  • Ladies and gentlemen, behold the most famous painting in the world: the Mona Lisa.

  • Kind of small, if you ask me.

  • What's so famous about it?

  • All I see is a lady with a funny smile.

  • How come they call it the Mona Lisa, huh?

  • What's Giaconda?

  • Is it some kind of a nickname? Sort of.

  • Mona Lisa was the wife of Francesco del Giacondo, and most people think it's a portrait of her.

  • So, La Giaconda.

  • Why is she sitting there with her arms crossed?

  • I bet she's waiting for her lover. No way.

  • No one knows what she's doing.

  • But then, what makes it such a famous painting?

  • Maybe because the painter, Leonardo da Vinci, was a great inventor.

  • He even designed the first airplane. In the Middle Ages? No, no.

  • During the Renaissance.

  • And the painting is especially known for, uh, Mona Lisa's mysterious smile and the sparkle in her eyes, which have made da Vinci's portrait world famous. If I smile mysteriously, can I be famous too? That's silly.

  • We come to see the Mona Lisa because, well, everyone wants to see it.

  • You know, the real mystery is that nobody knows why it's such a famous painting. Mona Lisa, the Louvre Museum, Paris.

Ladies and gentlemen, behold the most famous painting in the world: the Mona Lisa.
