  • Hello Adam, I've seen you're in Chicago, and I want to throw you a challenge your way.

  • Yes, we get it, your snake shots are nightmare material, but let's see if you can handle my forehand smash.

  • It's game on.

  • Danieli Rios, a staple in table tennis for Puerto Rico.

  • Danieli was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, and moved to Puerto Rico when she was four.

  • At the age of five, she started playing table tennis after being inspired watching her older sister Maribel play.

  • Danieli quickly fell in love with it, and over the years, she became one of the top three women in Puerto Rico.

  • I met Danieli at the US Open in 2015, and since then, we've been best friends.

  • She won the team gold medal at the Pan American Games in 2019, and in 2022, she played the 2021 Olympic champion, Chun Meng, taking her to deuce.

  • Every game was very close, and even got Chun Meng to take a time out.

  • Seeing Danieli put so much pressure on the Olympic champion was really impressive.

  • Recently, in 2023, she retired, so challenge accepted.

  • Danieli beat me back when she was a young teenager.

  • To make this match competitive, I'll start the first game with a 4-0 lead.

  • If she wins the first game, I'll start the next game with a 5-0 lead.

  • And if I win the first game, I'll start the next game with a 3-0 lead, and so on.

  • The first player to win three games wins.

  • But there's a twist.

  • Whoever loses has to dress up in the other person's clothes and model them.

  • Yeah, let's see how you look with my clothes.

  • Ooh, well let's see how I look in your clothes.

  • Wait a minute.

  • Also, in this video, we'll have coaches.

  • Walker is a local long-time subscriber and a huge table tennis fan.

  • He'll coach Danieli in this video.

  • Paulina is a table tennis player, and she has a lot in common with me.

  • She's from Belarus, and that's where a lot of my ancestors are from.

  • Not to mention, she's a coach at Ping-Pot, so I figured I might as well ask her to be my coach.

  • So, let the games begin.

  • I didn't know you were going to pick that side.

  • I wasn't going to.

  • I changed my mind at the last minute.

  • So, you want to serve?

  • Yeah.

  • Those are my nightmares.

  • Oh, so good.

  • Wow.

  • No way.

  • What happened?

  • Yeah.

  • Nice.

  • Yeah.

  • Ooh.

  • Ooh.

  • You're doing great.

  • Don't worry.

  • Okay.

  • Okay.

  • It's going to be fine.

  • That's all you got for me?

  • It's going to be fine?

  • Don't cry?

  • We all die someday?

  • You just have to look in her eyes, understand what she has on her mind, and figure out where to hit the ball.

  • Thanks.

  • So, what do you want me to do for the next?

  • You need to watch the spin.

  • Okay.

  • Because he's going to try and snake you, and it's going to go the other way.

  • Okay.

  • Show away.

  • Show away.

  • Come on.

  • No.

  • OK, thank you.

  • What should I do with these serves?

  • They're so good.

  • So spinny.

  • Right?

  • Yeah.

  • So you're going to try to fake it.

  • Yeah.

  • But just watch where he contacts the ball.

  • Yeah.
