As far as a best antivirus list goes, Bitdefender's name has been popping up for a while now, but does it live up to the hype?
Here at CyberNews, we've been testing this provider for a while now, and in today's Bitdefender review, I'm going to thoroughly cover all of our review categories and see exactly why this app is such a popular choice.
I'll start by answering the very basic question, how easy is Bitdefender to use?
Well, the installation process honestly took longer than some of the other providers I've tested, but was still ready to go in around five minutes.
Once the setup part is out of the way, I found the app to be really easy to navigate.
So whether you're an amateur or a beginner, it's an ideal choice.
As you can see, all of the categories are neatly organized in the tabs on the left side.
And when you click on them, it gives you access to a dashboard full of features.
As expected with most cybersecurity apps, the Mac version is more lackluster than Windows, and the iOS version has fewer features compared to Android.
That said, both Mac and iOS still provide reliable security for devices.
Plus, the only reason they're missing some of the tools is because Apple already has built-in security, and thus, restrictions around new ones being implemented is commonplace.
And of course, the most important part of this Bitdefender Review 2024 edition is security.
Answering the question, can you trust Bitdefender to keep your computer clean from malware is the absolute crux of making a decision.
Without a doubt, this app has proven it is reliable and secure as a choice when it comes to malware blocking abilities.
Its software was recently tested by AV-Tests, and it was able to block 100% of both zero-day attacks and four-week old malware threats.
What's more, the app even won the Outstanding Product Award from AV Comparatives.
When it comes to bi-monthly grading based on its performance, protection, and usability, Bitdefender scores generally remain consistent.
It usually gets a solid 6 out of 6 points in each category, with the occasional 5.5, but nothing lower.
And even though these results are already impressive, you guys know that here at CyberNews, we like to additionally run a few of our own tests, just to be sure.
We did this by planting 10 malware threats on my device, then ran a system scan to how many it would catch.
So, what were our Bitdefender test results?
It was able to detect 9 out of the 10 threats, which is right in line with most of what the leading antiviruses are capable of.
Plus, I appreciate that there are 4 different scanning options that allow me a little bit more flexibility and customization.
The system scan is guaranteed to thoroughly check every corner of your device for all kinds of threats, while the quick scan does a lighter job and is to select specific folders and files, and the vulnerability option only takes about 5 minutes and checks for any vulnerabilities like weak passwords or outdated apps.
If you'd like to have all of these protective features on your device, plus a bunch more I'm about to go over, then go get your discount in the description or use the QR code on screen.
Alright, the next part of my Bitdefender review really separates an average antivirus option from a best antivirus option, and that's security features.
In addition to the variety of scanning choices, the app also utilizes real-time protection.
Bitdefender Shield works in the background 24-7 to monitor your device for threats as they're happening.
Enabling the ransomware remediation toggle will not only block ransomware attacks, but also creates backup files that can then be restored.
The anti-spam module protects against threats like spam and phishing, while the anti-tracker extension prevents scripts from harvesting your personal data and browsing habits.
But what are the standout features that truly justify investing in this antivirus?
Bitdefender VPN and Password Manager is my answer.
I found that the VPN not only uses market-standard encryption, but also has impressively fast download speeds and 4,000 servers to choose from in 53 countries.
There's even a kill switch and split tunneling feature.
The Password Manager is a great place to securely store sensitive data like passwords, login credentials, and credit card info.
Aside from the expected security features, there are also some beneficial bonus features included in the app as well.
With system optimization, you can easily clear up space and improve your device's performance by removing unnecessary files.
The profile feature is a convenient way to customize the settings to your personal preference.
SafePay is a browser that creates a more secure online shopping and banking experience.
I don't have time to touch on all of the extensive features, but there's a bunch more like web protection, anti-theft capabilities, Wi-Fi security advisor, parental controls, and more.
Before I wrap up this Bitdefender Review 2024 edition, let's talk numbers.
How much are the subscription packages?
Well, there is a free option that lets you test out the waters before choosing which premium suits you.
Just know that it is very limited.
The Antivirus Plus plan offers basic protection for your device, while the Internet Security plan costs slightly more and offers more advanced coverage.
The Bitdefender Total Security Bundle comes with all of the protective features I mentioned and allows use on up to 5 devices at once.
And remember, you can make your Bitdefender 2024 subscription even more affordable by using the coupon in the description.
So, as you can see, this app is one of the best antivirus options for both beginner and advanced users alike.
The app offers various protection solutions based on your needs and wants, and even first-time users will find the dashboard easy to navigate.
If you enjoyed this video, then you might also like the next ones that are on screen now.
I also left an updated Bitdefender discount on screen as well.
Thanks, and see you next time.
