Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Okay, relax there. Get yourselves into threes, okay? Make a real tight triangle in your three and get one ball popping. Get one ball popping, go on, in your three. Get one ball popping round, go. Come on, I'm looking for the tightest, quickest three. Tightest, quickest three. That's fine, no problem. Okay, in your twos or threes, while you're working there, just have a little chat. Go on, keep going. Get that ball moving. I'm going to challenge you. Can you talk and play football at the same time? Have a little chat around what you think you're going to bring to a practice in the final third today. So if you're a defender, what are you going to bring? If you're an attacker, what are you going to bring? What are you about? What type of goals do you score? Top corner. Top corner. From where? 30 yards out. Okay, I'm going to challenge you. Can you get me four goals today from no more than six yards out? You've got him as a defender. You two there have got him as a defender. You two have got him as a defender. You two have got him as a defender. You three have got him as a defender and you two have got him as a defender. Yes? All you're going to do, okay, only one ball can go at each time in each half, all right? But we're just going to play into the defender, play it back and I'm just going to have a touch and finish. I'm going to get my ball and I'm going to go and join any one of the other three cues my side. Nice. Come on then, who's going to start organising this and getting the balls going a bit quicker for me? I only want one finisher each time. I only want one person finishing at each moment. So loads of self-organising, some communication. I haven't told them where to rotate to. They've got to work all that out for themselves. Previously in my coaching I'd always planned that for them, not anymore. I'll put a little bit more pressure on. Nice, beautiful. Beautiful. I remember listening to Robbie Fowler talk and Robbie Fowler said when I practice finishing I don't need a goalkeeper in the goal. Robbie, are you sure? Does it not make it too easy for you? Nah, see after two or three shots the goalkeepers get tired. Don't get tired, work hard, okay? After two or three shots the goalkeepers can get tired, it can become unrealistic. I just give myself little targets to go and score into. So don't worry about not having a goalkeeper at this end. It's about habits. Okay defenders, all in now. Go on, go and be as aggressive as you want. Play, let's go, any ball can go. Make sure you're rotating round, different areas. Come on, come on, come on, half a yard and goal, half a yard and goal, nice. Half a yard and goal, good. Save. You're going to play into the defender who's going to play back the ball and we're going to go two versus one, okay? So now we must go and attack the defender 2v1, 2v1, 2v1. So we want them to attack. Nice, good, good. Great job. The quality on your touch work. Nice, good. What's easy for you to defend against in a 2v1? If they try to take it on themselves? Brilliant. Okay, you two come and split off then. So this is what the defenders are saying they find easy, yeah? When you try to run and you run, go on, go on, go on and I can just turn it into a 1v1 here and I can wait for your shooting moment and I can get my blocks off. That's really good under load defending. Really good. Okay, what can you two do to make that harder for him then? Brilliant. Let's put a rule on it, no straight lines. We've got a crossover now, yeah? So somehow now we've got to get crossovers in. Good, crossovers, crossovers. Like it. What type of goals can you score from there? Nice. Ready? Okay, bounce it out to him, yeah? Drive inside, I'm going to come around the outside of you. Let's go. There, there, yes, yes. Play me in, play me in. What type of goals might we be able to get now if he can get me in? Brilliant. So we might get some crossing and finishing out the practice as well now, yeah? So if we can get those overlaps in wide areas, we might get some flash crosses, some cutbacks, I might stand it up, we might get some headers and volleys in there as well. In central areas, is your mate going to get in and get goals or is he just going to be a decoy? Let's go. Last couple of minutes. Good. Come on then, 2v1s, 2v1s. Ooh, they've got to work it out for themselves. That's the game. Nice. Ah, good finish, good finish. Well played. Good, 2v1s, 2v1s, 2v1s. Nice, goals. Brilliant, well done.
