  • In the 1920s, Russian psychologist Bluma Zagarnik had people carry out simple tasks, such as stacking up counters or putting toys in a box.

  • Sometimes, she stopped the participants before they'd finished.

  • Then, everyone had to describe all of the tasks. Zagarnik found that the unfinished tasks really stuck in people's minds.

  • If you find yourself procrastinating, just spend five minutes making a start.

  • That tiny amount of effort means that you'll have an uncompleted task on your mind, and you'll be far more motivated to finish the job. Learn more at www.cdc.gov.au.
