In the 1920s, Russian psychologist Bluma Zagarnik had people carry out simple tasks, such as stacking up counters or putting toys in a box. Sometimes, she stopped the participants before they'd finished. Then, everyone had to describe all of the tasks. Zagarnik found that the unfinished tasks really stuck in people's minds. If you find yourself procrastinating, just spend five minutes making a start. That tiny amount of effort means that you'll have an uncompleted task on your mind, and you'll be far more motivated to finish the job. Learn more at www.cdc.gov.au.
