What is a flight dispatcher and why are they so important?
Well, consider this.
What is a computer without a motherboard?
A microwave without a plug?
A phone without a keypad?
We could go on, but we're sure you get the picture.
Flight or airline dispatchers must be licensed or certified, working hard behind the scenes to plot flight paths, aircraft performance, loading, on-route winds, thunderstorms, airspace restrictions and more all the matter when soaring at almost 600 miles an hour.
Without flight dispatchers, no plane would take off.
Flight dispatchers authorize flights 24-7 whilst ensuring safety on board, making decisions in emergency situations, sticking to schedules and interpreting weather data to plot the best paths.
Ultimately, flight dispatchers keep the aviation industry alive, on the ground and at 40,000 feet, controlling day-to-day operations, refueling, dispatching crew and beyond.
So next time you board a plane, think of the flight dispatcher who gave the green light.
Without them, you'd be going nowhere.
