Taiwan, playing as Chinese Taipei, narrowed the gap to one run by the fifth inning but couldn't overtake the home team.

The victory marked Japan's 27th consecutive international win and solidified their number one ranking.

Japan will face Taiwan again in the championship final on Sunday night.
