It was the Blur vs Oasis football match.

Damon out of Blur and Liam out of Oasis facing each other on the pitch.

It was all part of the music industry's Soccer 6 tournament, raising money for Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy at Marlent Stadium.

Also playing in other matches were Jarvis Cocker out of Pulp and Robbie Williams.

The thing is, I'm really hungover from last night anyway, so it's balancing up in it really.

It's a howdy of the doggy.

The question is of course, have the crowd come to see a display of exceptional football skills?

Well frankly, no.

Course not, they've just come to see pop stars in football shorts.

Blur or Oasis, which is it?

Blur.

I didn't think so somehow.

Unfortunately, Damon out of Blur was too shy to do any interviews and the nearest Liam out of Oasis came was to steal the sponge off a reporter's microphone.

But for some fans, just the sight of Liam proved to be too much.

But what was the result of Blur versus Oasis?

The Southern Softies versus the Northern Hardmen.

The result was Blur 2, Oasis 0.

Not such a bunch of Softies after all.
