Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Jimmy, you are, I think, such a big part of why we got to do this show because you, we did the pilot together. We did, a never before seen, never aired pilot. No, it's true, no one's ever seen it. It was me, you, and Cameron Diaz. I was Lucy Liu, basically. That's right! That's what I like to think. And then we just spent the summer doing Hollywood Squares together. I know, that was so fun, congrats on that. She's the center square, of course. Yeah, well, I love Hollywood Squares, but I loved game shows growing up, and I love comedy, which you are a renowned comedian. Thank you. And, wait, yeah, what I said in the intro, is it true that you used to DJ in a strip club? Yes, that was my intro. Tell me everything. Okay, actor, comedian, strip club DJ, Jimmy O. Yang. That's my intro, I guess. That's right! Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I used to strip club at a really crappy, I used to DJ at a really crappy strip club, and I was like the nice DJ, you know? I had like cute crushes on other girls and stuff, and it never came to fruition. I was gonna say, how did they treat you? Were you like the, oh, Jimmy, or was there like a Jimmy? I wish it was that, but it was like the first one. I was too nice of a DJ, like, you know, and like whatever songs they wanna play or whatever, but it's almost like a, it's less of a DJ job. It's almost like a management job. You gotta make sure the girls, you know, get the stage on time, you know, and everyone has a good rotation going. I didn't last there very long. What was a song that you were like, oh my God, I gotta get this, like, I gotta get everything, like, rolling. I gotta, like, get the energy. I gotta, I gotta get everybody up. Like, what do I play? What's your hype song? What was your hype song? This was when I was in college. So it was a long time ago. Jeremih had just dropped his new album. So the Jeremih 50 Cent song, I don't know if you guys remember that. It's called Down On Me. It was a great, great strip club anthem. I saw her just pointing to her friend. It's like, that's your song. That's your song, yeah. Wait, and then is it true that you also worked as a used car salesman? Yes. I did all the shady jobs possible. Tell us every single one. Oh my God. Yeah, used car salesman was, and I was like, very good. I was gonna say, I heard you were very successful at it. Successful wouldn't be the right word, I think. I was just like, shady and good, you know? Effective. Yeah, cause I think I look trustworthy, but I'm not. You know, that's why I sold a lot of cars. Okay, this, this show is so cool. It's with a lot of cool people. It's, it's very classy and elevated. It's, there's a dramatic nature to it. Ronny Chieng is there, I see. Yeah. That you guys are together in this as well. And you were in Crazy Rich Asians together. I know, how cool is that? I love both of you so much. And I am reading about this everywhere. Like, this is like that kind of cool, rad, everybody's talking about it, water cooler, artistic, but like fun. And you know, it feels like it's getting a tremendous amount of, I know what they call it, buzz. Thanks. It's all the rage. Yeah. What drew you to this? Did it scare you? Did it challenge you? Cause doing drama, being very real and dramatic and knowing when to hold back or to lean in is very different than comedy for me, at least when I'm acting. And I think it's all the scary, challenging parts of it. That's what drew me to it. Cause I love just doing the unexpected. Like people think I'm a comedian. People think I'm a comedic actor. Now I want to do some like really dramatic and really human. And then in this one, I get to fight too. I get to do some Kung Fu for the first time in my career. I'm probably the only Asian actor that's never been asked to do Kung Fu before this. Now you really are Lucy Liu. Yeah, I know. I know, come on, come on. Wait, is it true that you also are on a text chain with the Crazy Rich Asian cast? Yeah, yeah. We still have all of us, cast and crew, like 150 people. And you know, like John Chu just shared a picture of his new baby, you know, and then they were all at the, you know, Wicca premiere, like Michelle Yeoh and John and everyone. John Chu, who directed Crazy Rich Asians, is the director of Wicked. Well, before we go to the break, Thanksgiving is tomorrow. Do you have any thoughts on pumpkin pie, Jimmy? I like pumpkin pies. Like for birthdays, I actually don't like cakes. I prefer pies. Just give me pies for my birthday. Really? Yeah. Well, would you be interested? Yes, I'm putting my hair up because there's a game that's like going viral about like you just swan dive into the pie face first. Okay. Should I put my hair up too? I need a little man bun. Will you play this game with me? Let's go. All right. Let's do it. Let's do it. Let's do it. Let's do it. Let's do it.
