Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Hey, I'm Wilbur! I've noticed that everybody's been getting really excited about one thing lately, Christmas. I wanted to learn more, so I asked my friends at Webcertain, and they told me that each country has its own unique Christmas traditions. My friend Susanna comes from Austria, and she says that on the 5th and 6th of December, they have the terrifying Krampus! The Krampus is a scary-looking creature with a costume made up of real fur, huge cowbells and horns, carrying a wooden stick. Parades go through towns, and whilst good children are rewarded by St. Nikolaus by being given sweets, the Krampus would traditionally punish naughty children by beating them with their sticks. For health and safety reasons, that's not allowed anymore, but the Krampus still makes a lot of noise with their cowbells and hit people gently. Come to think of it, I'm going to behave myself from now on! I hope you've enjoyed learning how they do things in Austria. Happy Christmas from everyone here at Webcertain!
