This is a story about hope.
We want to tell you the end of the story first because
even if your story is dark and scary, and every page feels filled with conflict and loss, or with sudden change,
you can always find hope.
You just need to look for it and hold on to it.
It might be buried deep.
Like gems in the ground, but it's always there.
Hope is a powerful feeling, it is confidence that things can improve in the future, and it gives us strength to fight through difficulties today.
When the world becomes overwhelming, it can be hard to think that anything positive can ever happen.
You might want to give up hope and close the book, end the story there.
But be patient, there are good people, good things, and good times ahead.
It's normal to feel scared, worried, or uncertain about the future.
Think back to how you've dealt with problems in the past.
You were strong then, and you got through them.
And you can get through them again.
Search for the good in others or in things around you.
Find something beautiful.
A flower, or the sky, even in difficult times, you can find something beautiful that gives you pleasure.
Spend time doing whatever makes you feel stronger.
That might be seeing your loved ones, reading, drawing, praying.
Tell yourself, you're allowed to feel happy.
You matter, and you're allowed to look forward to the future.
The bad times are only temporary until good things return.
And when you find those bright, sparkling gems of hope, sometimes hidden deep, deep away, hold them tight and treasure them.
You can also pass them on and share the hope, an act of kindness.
Sharing and generosity, seeing happiness in others is contagious.
Talk about your hopes and your dreams, ask others where they find their gems.
How you feel now doesn't define who you are.
What will you do in the future?
When your world feels quieter, calmer, how will you rewrite your book?
