Now, by the way, about the music.
What type of music do we play at trainings?
For the jazz part, I'm going to put on.
All types of tempos, ranging from slow.
To very fast bebop swing, even put on a blues song from time to time.
Really, really slow it down, I'm not going to put it on, I'll probably put it on maybe 10% of the training.
Uh, put on some R and B, um, early Charles.
Like Dixieland, a little bit of that.
It's not, it's not what I prefer.
But I know there's some people at training who really love that music, and so it's important to also accommodate to everybody's likings.
So a little bit of that sometimes.
And you can, you know, you can change the DJ.
You can change the DJ, one, one day might be you, one day might be another.
And it's good, sometimes it's a bit refreshing to have another playlist.
You can do it on Spotify, you can have like a start a jam, and essentially everybody can put in some songs and into the playlist.
And then when it comes to Lindy Hop, I would only put music on that's over 220 bpm.
And I especially do that early on in our trainings.
So the first years we did that a lot.
I would crank up the tempo like crazy.
And the reason is because when people come to training and then they start swinging at at 220, 230, 240.
That's when they start to see their weaknesses.
That's when they start to see that there's some flaws in their technique or that there's some things that aren't flowing just as as as well as they'd like.
So it allows people to be able to identify and then they will just kind of slow down and you'll be able to kind of coach them, you know, and everybody will kind of coach each other, you you take the person who are doing the fastest swing outs, the cleanest with the best twists.
And you go, hey, can you, can you show us?
Like we're struggling with this.
Um, can you, can you show us?
So it's an each one teach one.
And it's very easy in that case to be able to identify who's really killing it, right?
Again, you know, don't focus so much on doing things only slowly all the time and going like, you know, sometimes you just got to sweat it out.
Sometimes you just got to go like crazy and it's and it's going to feel wrong and bad and stuff like that.
You know, don't hurt yourselves, of course, but.
Uh, sometimes you got to get out of that comfort zone.
Expertise is a matter of repetition and putting ourselves in a uncomfortable position.
Because it's always challenging us.
It's always like, like if you're going to go to the gym and, you know, and now you're getting strong, you're not going to stick to the smaller weights, you got to constantly put on a little bit more weight so that you're challenging your body to enable more growth.
Okay?
That's how it is, the brain is the same, our nervous system is the same, dancing is the same, it's always the same.
