Good morning guys, hope you guys are all well and that life, school, uni, college, work is all treating you well.
Today marks the second week of med school for me this year and let me just say, it's been pretty hectic.
Last week we got introduced into the gastrointestinal system and this week we're following up with that with some anatomy dissection.
So for those of you who don't know what that is, that's when we essentially dissect a cadaver and we remove like the fascia and identify all the anatomical structures and stuff like that.
So basically it's all very boring.
But usually I film like me waking up but I'm running late, I'm so sorry to my teammates and class teacher, but yeah, I'm running late.
I woke up at six o'clock this morning to watch Champions League with Nick and we went for a 3.8K run.
Here is the timestamp.
Then I quickly got changed and then now we're heading into med school.
So I'm from Australia, right?
It's like 45 degrees today.
Yeah, I just wanted to share that because that's fucking outrageous.
But yeah, we've got heaps planned today and I just want to take you guys with me to show you what it's like when you have so much going on and so little time and how you can maximise what you have.
But yeah, it's all really exciting.
Getting towards the end of like my learning and teaching years and moving and transitioning into like my placement years, which will be really exciting.
But yeah, trying to consolidate on all the theory and stuff like that.
Also not sure you guys have known about Left Field, we are doing a new drop very, very soon.
We're announcing it on our Instagram and via our email, our early access email.
So if you haven't already, follow us and sign up to our early access.
But yeah, guys, the first class that we have today is anatomy.
So I have to get my lab coat, head into the dissection room and then start working with like my team through like these books.
We got given like 116 words that we had to learn last week.
116, bro.
Anyways, guys, massive jam packed day.
Let's head into med school.
All right, guys, we are done with anatomy.
Oh, my mate is here.
Just gotta go over there.
But yeah, dissection was good, a little bit overwhelming in terms of just how much stuff that we have to like get through.
Essentially, there's like there's nine layers of the anterior abdominal wall and you have to reflect them immediately.
But yeah, that's the plan and yeah, we'll see how much we get done.
It is gross.
Celiac disease is essentially when you have a.
Yeah, right.
What is celiac disease?
So celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder and is triggered by gluten.
Yes.
All right, guys, time for a lunch break, a very late lunch break, a 2.50pm lunch break.
Got a bun meal that Nick bought in the morning.
He was supposed to eat them for breakfast, but I decided not to.
The roast pork bun meal.
It looks very sad.
It looks it looks a little bit like your pancreas.
You guys can have the first bite.
It looks really dry, right?
It's not just me.
It's dry.
So dry.
Dry.
Dry.
Might be because it's like seven hours old, but I'm just going to take a break now.
Been studying for a little while.
So, yep, just take a break, have some coffee and then continue.
Been able to get through a lot of the anatomy, which is good.
I'm just going to go through some practice exam questions and make Anki cards based on those questions, and then I'm going to move on to the content for this week and just like consolidating on all that, as well as doing it before as well.
Just doing 30 minutes of anatomy and then 30 minutes of content, 30 minutes of anatomy because anatomy just blows my head, unfortunately.
But we'll get back to it soon.
I'm feeling really, really good.
I'm loving it.
I'm starting to hear fatigue, spinae, knee, and berenia.
I'm starting to map, I think it's glossular stigmatitis.
No, angular stigmatitis.
Supraclavicular lymph nodes, I'll pay for that.
Hey guys, I hope you're enjoying the vlog so far.
I just want to take a very quick moment to talk about today's vlog sponsor, ESR.
For those of you who don't know, ESR is a company that provides protective cases and accessories for your phone, iPad, laptop.
And the thing that I love about ESR is they promote productivity.
They were kind enough to send me this iPad case that I've been using for the longest time, and I just wanted to quickly talk about it.
If you're anyone like me who uses an iPad pretty much every day, one of the most important things you can do is protect it.
I feel like having an iPad as your primary device or as an additional device, it's so useful to have a keyboard attached to it as well.
And I'm not lying when I tell you guys that I have found the best iPad keyboard case on the market.
The keyboard feels super tactile, almost like a Macbook.
So when I'm typing notes, replying to emails, or making notes, it feels super fast and satisfying.
Also, it has a multi-touch trackpad, which gives you full control, swipe, scroll, click, and it's all so smooth.
The thing that I love about it the most is that it has a detachable case.
Unlike the Apple magnetic keyboards, it doesn't have a case.
So when you detach it from your keyboard stand, you're leaving it super vulnerable to scratches.
And if you do drop it, there's no protection for your iPad.
The case itself feels super premium.
I really like the material and how tactile the case feels.
I know that I'm getting a piece that's super high quality and really well made.
The keyboard itself charges using USB-C, so it takes less than half an hour to charge to 100%.
Now they also sent me a pen, which connects seamlessly to my whole productivity experience.
As you guys know, I'm always writing notes whenever I'm watching a video or I'm trying to use Active Recall.
I feel like writing is the best way to learn, and I love to write on my iPad.
Having a pencil that automatically connects to my iPad and attaches seamlessly to the helps improve my productivity, saves time, also enhances my performance in terms of when
I am studying.
Unlike your traditional Apple pencil, it comes with a replacement nibs, which I find super helpful and it is actually super lightweight.
It feels like I'm actually holding a pencil as opposed to like a stylus.
On the digital pencil as well, they also have a Find My option.
So if you ever do misplace or lose your pencil, you can use the Find My app on your iPad or iPhone to find the digital pencil, which I think is amazing.
Together with the ESR Digital Pencil and the ESR iPad Keyboard Case, they combine to make my workflow system for my iPad super productive.
I'm used to how the Apple Magic Keyboard, but I found that this one is so much more versatile, actually protect my iPad and just increases my productivity and enjoyment of using my iPad, which is pretty rare.
I love its sleek, minimal design, and it is super ideal for students, creators, entrepreneurs, and anyone who wants to level up their workflow.
It essentially transforms your iPad into an all-in-one portable workstation, which I think is amazing.
More importantly though, it provides 99% of the functionality at a fraction of the price.
So it is honestly a no-brainer, guys.
If you are someone that wants to make the most out of your iPad, look no further than
ESR's Keyboard Case and Digital Pencil, and I promise you, you're not going to make a mistake.
Alright guys, back to the vlog.
Alright guys, it is now 11.33, and I decided that that is the perfect time to go to the gym.
I'm not sure if you guys can tell, but it's still very, very hot.
It got up to like 44 degrees today, so it's terrible.
But after studying, there was like a med event, and then I went home, had some dinner, and studied for a little bit, and now I decided to go to the gym.
But yeah, there does come a point where you're studying heaps, and then you're just not absorbing the content, and I realized that's what was happening to me.
So what better way to kind of like relax than go to the gym?
I know it's quite late, but yeah.
Let's go to the gym!
Let's go!
My second favourite exercise, weighted dips.
Let's go!
Yes, don't examine his prostate.
Good morning guys.
It is not the next day.
It is Friday now.
I'm so sorry that I forgot to record a lot of what happened yesterday on Thursday.
I'll give you guys a quick recap.
Basically, headed into uni, and we had clean skills.
During clean skills, we were just refining all of our skills.
So yeah, essentially making sure that from the start of our general inspection to our hands, all the way up to our arms, chest, abdomen, we're making the right comments on the patient, looking for the right things.
So palm on three marks, like redness of the palms, clubbing, looking for capillary refill, making the right percussions and palpations in the right spots and directions as well.
But yeah, after clean skills, I studied by myself for about two hours, just consolidating on all of the clean skills stuff, but also consolidating on the content for this week because we have a test today that I'm currently running late for.
Last year, the test started at 1am.
This year, they start at 9am, which is fantastic.
The first thing you wake up to on a Friday is a test.
And then we had soccer at 5pm, which lasted to around about 6.45pm, 7pm.
Came home, ate dinner, then went to basketball at 9.10pm.
We didn't win, but I did drop 14 points.
They call me the Asian.
Man, I'm so lame.
I'll see you guys at uni.
Alright guys, hi.
Basically, what just happened?
We finished our IRAP.
I think I got around 8 or 9 out of 12, which is pretty bad.
I got a lot of consolidation that I got to do, unfortunately.
But afterwards, I went and filmed some skits, some content for FMSS.
If you guys don't know what that is, that is the Flinders Medical Students Society.
I'm the social media director for this year, so I just wanted to film some content and make the Instagram page a little bit more lively.
Just headed into the city to have a consultation reskin.
Always looking on ways to improve the way I look and just my overall health.
I feel like my skin could definitely do with a makeover and just to look better.
I had a consultation and they were so lovely, so helpful and informative on what I should be doing to look after my skin and the best treatments to get the desired look that I'm after.
Essentially, they're just like, you know, this is what you need to do to not look ugly.
And I'm like, okay, yeah.
So I finished the consultation and got some lunch.
Sorry guys, my phone ran out of storage.
Anyways, got some matcha and now we're actually going to head back into uni.
The new MD1s, they have an event on later today.
So I'm going to pop by, say hi, take some photos for the Instagram page of FMSS and more importantly, just like study in the meantime as well.
So I don't think you guys want to be there for that because it's like, it's just going to be me studying.
Unfortunately, it's quite boring.
But yeah guys, that marks week two of the new year of med school.
I hope you guys enjoyed it.
It has been a little bit erratic because I've just had so much to do.
But yeah, I hope whenever you guys are doing, whether it's like you're about to start uni and you're about to start school, college, exams, studying for your med exams, any exam, about to start a new job, whatever it is, I wish you all the best.
Just know that I'm always rooting for you to do your absolute best.
But yeah, I hope you guys are taking care of yourselves.
Thank you so much for making it to the end.
I'm going to try to be consistent with weekly vlogs.
And yeah, it is just been super hectic.
It's good. It's good. It's good being busy.
Anyways, guys, thank you so much.
I'm going to go and study now and then go home later.
And I'll see you guys in the next one. Bye.
