Donald Trump says he threatened Taiwan's largest company, chip giant TSMC, with up to 100% taxes if it did not build factories in the United States.
TSMC, I gave him no money, great company.
Most powerful in the world, biggest chip company in the world.
They're spending $200 billion in Arizona building one of the biggest plants in the world.
And that's without money, all I did is say, if you build, if you don't build your plant here, you're going to pay a big tax, 25, maybe 50, maybe 75, maybe 100%.
TSMC has committed to investing $165 billion US dollars in its American facilities, not 200 billion.
It is the largest foreign investment in US history, both TSMC chair CC Way and Taiwan President Lai Ching-te have said they received no US government pressure to invest in the country.
