  • Is everyone ready? Let's begin.

  • Hello everyone! Nice to see you again.

  • Today's idiom is: come to think of it.

  • Come to think of it.

  • Alright, this idiom is very difficult to imagine a picture, but let's say you're driving in a car and you can't remember anything, okay?

  • You're just driving and you can't remember, can't think.

  • And all of a sudden, you come to a stop and the sign says, 'Think of it.'

  • Okay, you come to think of it and when you get to the sign, you can remember, you can think.

  • Yeah, come to think of it.

  • Okay, so let's listen to 2 examples and try to think of this idiom's meaning.

  • I thought everyone in Japan studied English!

  • Yeah, come to think of it, I might have done some vocabulary in elementary school.

  • Alright, let's listen to the next example.

  • How do you think you did on your test today?

  • Well, come to think of it, I think I was able to answer all the questions except for one.

  • Alright, so maybe they couldn't remember and, ah, okay, they came to think of it.

  • They could remember.

  • Alright, so using the idiom 'come to think of it' means before maybe you forgot or you had trouble to remember

  • and now you remember.

  • So, it's a nice way to change not the topic, but to say, 'Ah, I remember.'

  • Yeah, so for example, if your friend asks you to lunch and you said,

  • 'No, I'm busy... Come to think of it, my English class was canceled today, so I can go to lunch.'

  • Yeah, I just remembered.

  • Okay, so let's use 'come to think of it' next time and you'll sound very natural and native speaker if you can use 'come to think of it'.

  • Alright, and I'll see you again next time.
