Now, this word just means friend, just partner, compadre, someone you know. So, let's go to the conversational examples. Two guys waiting to leave a place. Dude! When are we gonna make that move? “G” Don’t worry, It’s going down real soon. Dawg-Dawg-Dawg!!! Just leave it along. That's what I’m saying, I can’t!!! I’m hooked!!! Do you understand? We'll just go through this real quick-like. First conversation, two guys, as mentioned before, were leaving a place. They was hanging out somewhere and then one guy is a little impatient. He's like, "I'm ready to go, man. What are we just sitting around for?" That's why he says, "Yo, when are we gonna move?" meaning, "When are we gonna go?" The other guy says, "Hey, don't worry. We'll be leaving real soon." Simple. Next example, friend says, "Dawg-Dawg-Dawg!!! Just leave it along." It means don't even worry about it. Let is go. Just forgot about whatever is going on right now. Just let it go. Leave it alone. And his friend says, "That's the problem. I can't leave it alone." For some reason he just can't stop doing what he doing. Simple and plain. You got it? Now see, the thing is, you gotta understand, many people misunderstand how to use this word dawg. Dawg is basically when you say, "Hey, what's up DAWG." Dawg means someone you know very well. The same way as G, but G means gangsta, not meaning really a gangster, but he means he's hardcore. Man more like just your friend, your boy. Homie, that means someone that you've known for a long time. Now, most guys use these phrases. Homegirl, shorty girl, baby girl, these are also some words that be used by brothers, but sisters also use it as well. My homegirl. You know, my girl. You know, different phrases like that, but mostly dawg, G, they're used by men, not used by women. So, ladies, if you're learning from this, do not go around calling your girlfriend dawg. No, guys use these phrases. If you're talking to your girlfriend, say homegirl or sister, all right? Now, I'm out of here until next time. I'll bring you some more Ebonics words and phrases. Peace out!
