A powerful 7.5 magnitude earthquake has struck Nepal
less than 50 miles from the capital of Kathmandu
Tremors felt across north and eastern India and pakistan.
The shaking was perceived by people who contacted the U.S. Geological Survey USGS
as "severe" to "violent," nearly the highest rating on the intensity scale.
Tremors were felt as far as New Delhi, more than 200 miles away in neighboring India.
Early reports from Kathmandu say some houses have been damaged and walls toppled.
Services of Delhi Metro have also been temporarily suspended in view of massive tremors.
Tremors were also felt in Patna, Lucknow, Kolkata, Jaipur, Chandigarh and other cities India.
Nearly half an hour after the first tremors, aftershocks were also felt.
