Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles We start a Botox treatment by taking baseline photographs to monitor your progress. These photographs are taken in several different positions, with both a neutral expression and various facial expressions to determine the baseline level of wrinkles in the skin. Then we clean the areas to be treated with alcohol to minimize the risk of infection after the Botox treatment. In this demonstration, we start by treating the frown lines between the eyebrows with Botox. These are most commonly treated with five injections in a V shaped pattern between the brows and along the forehead. You will notice that we apply cold air with a special machine on the area being injected to numb up the area and keep you comfortable during the Botox treatment. The next area treated with Botox is the forehead where horizontal lines are seen when the eyebrows are raised. The injection pattern here is more variable. In this case we are doing four Botox injections across the forehead. The final areas treated with Botox in this demonstration are the crow's feet, the lines around the sides of the eyes that appear when we smile. The typical injection pattern is three to four injections on either side of the eyes. You will notice that we use a very fine needle to reduce pain and there is little to no bleeding during the Botox treatment. After the Botox treatment, the areas are massaged to allow the protein to get into the muscles and relax them. We complete the Botox treatment by applying sunscreen to protect the skin from the sun.
