Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles I recently discovered this awesome breakfast idea that is perfect for people on the go. It's called baked oatmeal and not only is it super delicious, it's also super nutritious, and super easy to make. What could be better than that? Today I'm going to show you the basic recipe for baked oatmeal and then show you how to top it three delicious ways. For this wonderful breakfast treat, we're going to start by mixing our dry ingredients. Now we are starting with rolled oats. You don't wanna use instant oats or quick oats, you wanna use good old fashioned rolled oats. To that, we are going to add some baking powder for lift. A little bit of salt and some brown sugar. The greatest part about this recipe is that you can add as much or as little sugar as you like. It really is totally up to you. We're going to whisk together our dry ingredients really, really well and then set them aside. In a second smaller bowl, we're going to mix together our wet ingredients. So we're starting with some eggs and some milk, some applesauce, and just a little bit of melted butter. We're going to add a little splash of vanilla for flavor and that's it. Once the two of these are combined, we're gonna scoop these into a muffin tin. I've lined my muffin tin with some cupcake liners to make these extra portable, but I will warn you they do tend to stick, so you wanna make sure you're giving them a good spritz with cooking spray before you start filling. Once you filled your muffin tin, you could pretty much add whatever type of flavors you want. Today I'm doing some blueberry coconut, some chocolate chips and crushed almonds, and finally, some cranberries and crushed pistachios. How delicious does that sound? Into the oven these go at 375 for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, they are soft and chewy and ready to eat. The best part about these is that they can be stored in your refrigerator for three or four days or in your freezer for up to six months, so they are the perfect breakfast on the go. I hope you'll give these delicious baked oatmeals a try and let me know how they turn out for you. Be sure to tweet or Instagram me a photo cause you know I love seeing what you're coming up with in your very own kitchen. And if you haven't already, be sure to subscribe to The Domestic Geek because there's lots more deliciousness where this came from.
