Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Hi and welcome! "Speak American English with Lyman Holton" My name is Lyman Holton. In this lesson you and me... are going to have a conversation between... 2 people, discussing whether or not one of us needs to go see a doctor, because we're sick! Are you ready? Let's begin. Repeat everything I say for Lyman and Kelly. Hello, Lyman. Hi, Kelly. Haven't seen you in a while. How have you been? The red print means that you may want to look that up in your translator. Not to good. I've been sick. Oh, that's too bad. Is it something serious? No, not really. It's just a bad cold, or maybe the flu. What do you mean "maybe the flu?" Haven't you seen a doctor yet? No, I've just been taking over-the-counter cold remedies. Did you get a flu shot this year? Yes. I got one on few months ago. So, it's probably not the flu. How long have you been sick? More than 2 weeks? Yeah, more like 3 or 4. I keep thinking that I'll get better soon. If I were you, I'd make an appointment to see a doctor right now. Yeah, I suppose that's what I should do. If you don't take this seriously, you may end up getting much sicker. I know, I just hate going to the doctor. It's so expensive. Lyman, it may be a lot more expensive if you wait until you're sicker. That's a good point. I'll make an appointment at the clinic today. That's the smart thing to do. Let me know what the doctor tells you. All right, Kelly. I'll give you a call after the appointment. Let's begin our 1st conversation! Speak out loud as Kelly. You are Kelly. Just listen when Lyman speaks. Hello, Lyman. Hi, Kelly. Haven't seen you in a while. How have you been? Not too good. I've been sick. Oh, that's too bad. Is it something serious?
