What’s up yo? I’m OK. Where did you learn that? I saw it on TV. It’s so cool how you foreigners talk. I want to be like you guys! Actually, In England and America we wouldn’t really talk like that. If you introduce yourself like that, it’s kind of rude. Oh! I’m sorry. I didn’t know. That’s OK. Listen, I’ve lived in Taiwan a long time, and you wouldn’t believe what some people have said to me. Some things are just not cool! 阿斗阿! 外國人! 美國人! 我不是美國人啦! 哎唷! Help! Hello, can you “teacha” me “Engrish” ? Hello! 你們美國人都喜歡吃漢堡嗎? 我不是美國人啦! Yeah, that’s definitely not cool. So what is OK to say? Actually, there’s a few simple ways you could talk to foreigners and greet them and be friendly like this Hi, how are you? Hi, how’s it going? Hello, may I ask where you come from? Hi there, it’s nice to meet you, I’m Fiona. What’s your name? So, can I use these greetings for everyone I meet that is a foreigner? Sure, no problem. Actually I think if you greet most of the people around the world like this, they will be very happy. I heard that some other cultures have special ways of greeting each other. Yeah, me too. I heard that in Thailand people put palms together like this to say hi. That’s cool. Did you know in Japan, people will take a bow like this. What, like this? Yeah, sort of. But maybe not that much. More like this. Do you think you understand a little more about how to greet a foreigner and, what’s cool and what’s not cool? Yeah, I think I do. But, do you mind if I greeting you again? Sure. Go ahead. Hi, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Fiona, what’s your name? I’m Shaun. It’s nice to me you, too. How are you today? I’m great. And you? I’m great thanks. Much better, right? Yeah, you did a great job. Much better. Hey, I got a good idea. Let’s see if these guys would like to try, right? Yeah, that’s a great idea. Hey guys. Now it’s your turn to try. Practice with your classmates, friends or teacher. Good job! So, Fiona. Next time you meet a foreigner you'll know what to do, right? Yeah, I guess I know. Look, there is a cute puppy. Let us make friend with it. But, what should we do?
