These cinematic games feature over the top action, top notch acting, and a lot of excitement.

Many of these are returning franchises that have reached a new level of maturity. With

the graphic capability of modern consoles and PCs it's possible to create much more

realistic and immersive games. So let's take a look at the Top 10 Most Anticipated Cinematic

Action games.

Homefront: The Revolution � PC, PS4, XB1 / TBA 2016

Set four years after the original "Homefront," "Homefront: The Revolution" follows protagonist

Ethan Brady as he struggles to reclaim the city of Philadelphia from an alternate, reunified

Korea, which is using the city as its central base after invading the country years ago.

The Greater Korean Republic has lost the western states to the Americans after the Battle of

San Francisco. However, the GKR has shifted their control to invade and capture many of

the eastern states leading to a huge battle for Philadelphia. The new Philadelphia is

a heavily policed and oppressed environment. Civilians live in fear as the Korean People's

Army patrols multiple districts in the city. In the city, a second rebellion is starting

and the resistance grows stronger led by Dana, the resistance leader, and youngest member

of the resistance, Ethan Brady.

This first-person shooter promises a large, open world and a variety of tasks to discover

and complete. Homefront The Revolution releases on PC, PS4, and XB1 in 2016.

Mafia III � PC, PS4, XB1 / April 26, 2016 Mafia III is a third-person shooter set in

New Orleans in 1968, after the Vietnam War. Lincoln Clay, a war veteran, has had it rough

growing up as a bi-racial orphan. In his constant quest to find family, he joined the army.

We see right away how Clay views the world when he says �Family isn't who you're born

with. It's who you die for.� With his experience in the Vietnam jungles in his unit as a foundation

for what family is, Clay returns to New Orleans and joins the �Black Mob.� This is significant,

because Clay being bi-racial in a very tense racial atmosphere plays a large part in the

story. Cops and citizens are struggling with the changing society and segregation policies.

The game features an open-world setting, allowing players to head wherever they want in New

Orleans. You can follow story missions in a linear fashion, or branch out with a large

amount of side missions with multiple steps.

Players will experience a world struggling with racism, the consequences of Vietnam,

assassinations in America, the sexual revolution, and much more filtering through society. This

is expressed in many ways, from interactions with other people to the music from the time

period. Even the clothes reflect what you'd expect in the depths of New Orleans, providing

an immersive experience to let you sense what the late 1960s had to offer. Mafia III releases

on PC, PS4, and XB1 on April 26, 2016.

Gears 4 � XB1 / TBA 2016 Gears 4 is the first original game from The

Coalition, the studio that has taken over the Gears Franchise. And it looks like they

are making some big changes in the way the story unfolds and the characters involved.

We see JD and Kait, two new protagonists. In the recent demo, they are exploring the

ruins surrounding a decrepit mansion. The hunt is interrupted by a "wind flare" a vast

cyclonic storm that spews lightning and gusts powerful enough to topple stone. After using

an integrated saw blade in his firearm, JD cuts through a metal gate and the two take

refuge. They pursue a beast into its lair and find an embryonic mass that splatters

the JD with glowing goo. The preview setting is a dark castle with gothic influences. The

area is very dark and players must use flashlights to illuminate certain obscured areas. The

planetary setting is a forested world overlooked by a pair of brilliant white moons. It appears

Both protagonists are wearing Coalition of Ordered Governments armor which is interesting

because as of the end of Gears of War 3 the COG no longer exists and niether do the locust

or lambet races. The protagonists mention that they are changing from hunters to hunted.

This, along with the lonely wilderness locale and ruined setting, implies that the characters

are originally called to hunt down the beast or den of beasts they encounter, a mission

that may be military, civil, or informal.

The game seems to focus more on cinematic elements and relate-able characters compared

to the larger than life tough military guys from the previous Gears games. The pace of

the game has also changed significantly, from a high octane action ride to a more paced

out action game. Gears 4 is scheduled for release in 2016.

Scalebound � XB1 / TBA 2016 Drew has been thrown into the magical world

of Draconis from our modern world. He sports headphones, jeans, and a black leather jacket,

a realistic look to contrast with the fantastical setting of Draconis. Drew looks like your

average guy but he has a dragon arm that allows him to connect with a dragon companion and

also perform supernatural attacks. Drew is bonded to Thuban, a massive dragon who is

the last of his kind. The binding means that the two characters share the same life stream,

if one dies, the other dies as well.

Drew mostly participates in combat from afar, firing explosive arrows at enemies and providing

Thuban with direction. There also throwable mines that can attach to enemies and detonate

when hit with a flaming arrow or Thuban's fire breath. On a smaller note, Drew's headphones

provide a cool added feature to the game by playing fast-paced dance music during combat.

In addition to normal attacks, Drew sports a dragon arm that allows him to heal Thuban,

attack with pulse energy, and scan enemies. Drew also collects energy from defeating enemies

that culminates in an overdrive-like attack, transforming him into a powerful half-dragon

for a short time. The intense strength of the dragon form rewards players for defeating

enemies by allowing them to mow down even more enemies with ease. When an enemy that

contains Pulse energy is killed, it drops red Pulse gems that Drew can use to upgrade

his equipment and Thuban himself.

At its core, Scalebound is still an RPG, so customization is a big feature. Players can

customize their own Thuban by selecting different body parts or colors. These modifications

will have an effect on how Thuban fights. If Thuban is made lighter with a bladed tail,

he will be more useful as an offensive weapon. If the player wants to do more of the fighting

with his or her own sword, a larger Thuban that can be used as a diversion and a damage-sponge

might be useful. Scalebound releases some time in 2016 only on Xbox One.

Rise Of The Tomb Raider � XB1 Nov 10, 2015 | PS4, PC � TBA 2016

Set after the events of Tomb Raider 2013, Lara Croft's experience of the supernatural

has been covered up by the organization Trinity. Rise of the Tomb Raider follows Lara Croft

and Jonah as they search Siberia for the ancient city built by the Grand Prince of Vladimir

in the 13th century, which Lara believes holds some truth behind immortality. In a race against

Trinity, a well funded organization interested in the supernatural, Lara must survive against

humans, animals, and the environment in order to find the truth behind the myths and become

who she was destined to be.

The newest trailer shows what traversal features will be like in the new game. Lara is shown

using dual Icepicks to ascend cliff walls, and jumping or leaping to catch adjoining

walls. There are also returning elements of rapidly maneuvering through dangerous terrain,

and having to platform between crumbling ledges and around explosions or debris. When out

of danger, Lara will still be able to scavenge and craft, as seen by her making a crude bow,

and killing an elk for supplies. Lara has to fend off assailants, and use her stealth

takedowns from behind, and a new underwater takedown to defeat enemies standing near water.

Combat has been redesigned with more options for stealth and sneak attacks. Lara can confuse

enemies using the environment, hide behind bushes or in trees, or avoid combat altogether

by climbing trees or traveling across roof tops. The bow and arrow return from�Tomb

Raider. Options for multiple bows can be fashioned from specific animals and materials that Lara

can hunt and salvage. Other weapons such as her pistol and climbing axe make a return,

plus an added hunting knife for melee or sneak attacks.

Rise Of The Tomb Raider releases on Xbox One on Nov 10 and the PS4 and PC versions will

release later in 2016.

Deus Ex Mankind Divided � PC, PS4, XB1 / Feb 23, 2016

Set two years after Dues Ex: Human Revolution, things have gotten even worse for main character

Adam Jensen. In the previous title, millions of augmented humans mindlessly attacked those

without any modification. Now, the world at large is even more against augmentation. Those

with mods are facing persecution and resorting to terrorist attacks to demand equality.

Enter Jensen, who has to balance his own augmented skills with society's demands while trying

to protect both. But even as he works to stop those who are like him, he must face the secrets

moving his own government organization forward. With plenty of weapon combinations, customizations,

and new augmentations to show off, players should have a wide range of ways to blast

their way through conflicting story interests in a world steeped in revolution.

Similar to previous titles, Dues Ex: Mankind Divided boasts role playing, first-person

shooter, and stealth elements through each single-player mission. The game is slated

for release on February 23rd 2016 for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.

Quantum Break � XB1 / April 5, 2016 Quantum Break is being called a cinematic,

third-person action game, but it�s far more than that. It is a revolutionary breakthrough

in how we play games. It's a hybrid of different media formats. Remedy Entertainment is filming

a TV show alongside their game. The actions you take in-game affect how the next episode

of the show plays out, and key information from the show will help you make the best

choices in the game. Both the characters in-game and the actors in the live-action segments

are one and the same. A star-studded cast and a high production budget will mean that

the voice acting will be superb, and the show�s production value will be equal to that of

HBO or Netflix Originals.

In Quantum Break, a time experiment has gone wrong, leaving several in-game characters

with super powers all based around concepts of manipulating time. Paul Serene, founder

of the corporation Monarch Solutions, travels through time via a time machine and comes

back seventeen years older and with a psychotic plan in mind. He kills Jack�s brother and

pursues Jack for the rest of the game. In-game time stutters are events caused by the breaking

down of time itself. The trailer showcased the time stutter game mechanic very well.

Violent, unpredictable, and beautifully glitchy, the time stutter events add platforming and

puzzle elements to the game as well as an unprecedented visual experience not seen even

in movies. Time may freeze, but Jack Joyce doesn�t. In the trailer and gameplay footage

shown, Jack casually walks through debris and explosions frozen mid-air. It�s an incredible

sight, especially when a time stutter event glitches out the environment and loops various

acts of destruction repeatedly right in front of your eyes.

To handle the intense amount of physics involved in the time stutters and time manipulation

mechanics of the game, Remedy Entertainment had to make their own game engine called Northlight

Engine. The game looks incredibly gorgeous, and the time stutter events are delightfully

unpredictable and hostile. The plot and time mechanics in the game were all checked for

approval by a scientist who worked at CERN in order to make a game that is as compatible

as possible with theoretical physics the way scientists understand it today. Quantum Break

releases on April 5, 2016 only on Xbox One.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 � PS4, XB1, PC, XB360, PS3 / Nov 6, 2015

Black Ops 3 is the twelfth installment in the Call of Duty franchise and the third in

the Black Ops series. Set 40 years after the events of Black Ops 2, this Treyarch developed

shooter is set in a dystopian 2065 where countries wage war against each other with covert attacks.

Robots are advanced enough to play an active part in the battlefield and implants have

made humans as much machines as flesh and blood. You will guide your Black Ops soldier

through this dangerous new world in an attempt to thwart a machine takeover.

The game has been overhauled since 2012�s Black Ops 2 and now features a customizable

female or male lead character that can perform a move set beyond that of a normal soldier.

Players can guide their super soldier through new levels that are now more open than they

have ever been in a Call of Duty title. This non-linear approach means replay-ability is

at an all-time high for this franchise, as gamers can find multiple ways to progress

through a map.

Multiplayer has also been revamped with an all new movement system, while the new �Specialist�

class comes with a choice of nine soldiers with different aggression or defense levels.

Call Of Duty Black Ops 3 releases on all major platforms on November 6.

Final Fantasy XV � PS4, XB1 / TBA 2016 Final Fantasy is one of the longest running

RPG series and the fifteenth installment is bringing a lot of new gameplay elements. The

game takes place in a world similar to modern-day Earth. It has typical RPG gameplay but with

third-person action elements. The characters have the ability to traverse the environment

in a free-running style, which also extends to battle with larger enemies.

The world is a large connected landmass which can be explored on foot or by using a car

or a chocobo. The new camping system provides players a new way to level up their characters.

Experience points earned in battle during the day are converted into new levels during

evening camping periods. Final Fantasy XV is taking a huge leap forward and should hopefully

reunite fans of the series. Final Fantasy is coming to PS4 and Xbox One in 2016.

Uncharted 4 � PS4 / March 18, 2016 Uncharted 4 is set several years after his

last adventure, retired fortune hunter Nathan Drake has settled into a quiet life with his

wife Elena. But after his long lost brother Sam comes back into his life, with a lead

on a fabled pirate treasure, Nate is forced back into the world of thieves. With the stakes
