Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Welcome to Crash, Course, Math! Hey Brainiacs! What do we have here? We’re going to have lots of fun today! We’ve got small vehicles, medium vehicles and a large vehicle! Here’s a small Smart Car (beep, beep) A medium monster truck (rev, rev) A large haul truck – woah, look how big it is! We’ve also got a medium fire truck and a small bulldozer! Check it out! We’ve got some great big bowling pins set up in the street! There are 10 pins, just like in a bowling alley. We can use adding to quickly count them up. This row has four, and this row has three. So four, plus three, equals seven. There are three more so seven, plus three, equals ten! There are ten bowling pins set up in the street. Let’s see how many of these pins each vehicle can knock down! Can you guess which one will knock over the most pins? Let’s start with the Smart Car. OK little Smart Car, let’s see how many pins you can knock down! Ready? Go little Smart Car! Awe, the little bitty Smart Car was too small to knock down many of the pins. How many did he get? That’s easy, we can just count them…1, 2. The Smart Car knocked over 2 pins. Let’s see how many pins the little bulldozer can get. Go little bulldozer! I bet he can knock down more than the little smart car. Not too bad! There are 5 pins left standing. We know that we started with 10 pins so we can find how many pins were knocked down by subtracting five from ten. Ten, minus five, equals five! So the bulldozer knocked over 5 pins! How many pins do you think the monster truck will knock down? Ready? Three, two, one...Go! Looks like the monster truck knocked down even more pins! There are four pins remaining, so how many did he knock down? We started with ten pins, so if we subtract the pins that are left, we’ll find the number that was knocked down. So ten, minus four, equals six. The monster truck knocked down 6 pins. Looks like he’s in the lead now. Let’s give the fire truck a try. [Siren & horns] Can you guess how many pins the fire truck will knock down? All set? Go fire truck! Wow, good job! There are only 3 pins left standing! So if we started with ten, and we have three left standing, that means that ten, minus three, equals seven pins knocked down! That’s the most pins so far! Now it’s time for the giant haul truck! I bet it’s gonna knock down a lot of pins! Ready? GO! Here we go! Let's see how many we'll get! StrrrIKE! The haul truck knocked down all of the pins! So there are zero bowling pins left standing! So ten pins, minus zero pins left standing, equals ten pins knocked down! We have a winner! [cheers] The haul truck knocked down the most pins of all the vehicles! Did you guess right?....
