Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is THAI’s newest aircraft, which have been delivered from The Boeing Company. The first one has arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand, on July 18th, 2014. Boeing named this aircraft as “Dreamliner”. And for our first Boeing 787, she has royally bestowed the name “ONGKHARAK”. The outstanding point of the plane is its material. Carbon Fiber is used to build the structure and body of the aircraft. The remarkable qualities of Carbon Fiber are light and elasticity. And the light weight of the carbon fiber helps reduce the fuel consumption. When compare Boeing 787 to other models, it can save fuel almost 20 percent for the same distance. Not only it saves 20% on fuel consumption, but it also reduces the emission of the Carbon Dioxide which is good for the environment. Carbon Fiber is very durable. However, since it is a composite material, in the next 30-40 years when we don’t use it anymore, we don’t have to throw it away, we can still recycle it. With the design of the aircraft, if you notice the back of the engine, it looks pretty much like a saw tooth. This is not only about the look or beauty of the aircraft but it is also designed to absorb the noise coming from the engine. The plane normally causes loud noise during take-off and landing but Boeing 787's noise is lower which is good for the communities around.
