  • If the guide hand comes off the ball, you have a high release to make sure you get a good arc on the ball.

  • Come on, come on. Come on.

  • Always be ready to shoot when you catch the ball. Come on, come on.

  • Everyone wants to be a great shooter.

  • It's really important to use your legs when you shoot.

  • What's not important is how high you jump, as long as you release the ball near or at the top of your jump.

  • In my league, guys are so quick. The higher I jump, the better the chance they have to recover and block my shot.

  • I always try to release it quicker rather than jump higher.

  • This gives me a chance to get my shot off against good opponents.

  • See the Canadian team as I mentioned, they've really thrived at the defensive end of the court.

  • That's been their glue in this tournament and when you defend

  • you get scoring opportunities. Steve Nash...

  • When you're pulling up for a jump shot, always plant your inside foot.

  • Which one's your inside foot? It's always the closest foot to the basket.

  • Not only does this foot allow you to gather your balance and rhythm, but it also cuts the defender off and protects him from your jump shot.

  • When I pull up my jump shot, I always plant my inside foot square to the basket and get my rhythm. Like that.

  • I love shooting off the dribble.

  • It’s a great way to score but it's very important to catch the ball in your range.

  • If I catch the ball in my range, the defender has to honor my jump shot.

  • Now I can attack his lead foot and step past him. From here I can keep going to the basket or I can pull up and shoot a jump shot.

  • If the defender recovers, I can step back and still get off a jump shot.

  • Free-throws are a huge part of the game of basketball. How do you become a great free-throw shooter? Simple. Practice.

  • It’s really important to be a great free-throw shooter for your team.

  • So many games in my career that we've lost and if we'd only made our free throws, we would have won.

  • I always step up to the line with confidence.

  • I put my right foot forward, bend my knees; my feet are shoulder-width apart.

  • I square myself in the basket. I dribble three times to collect myself. I take a deep breath and I think of the ball going through the hoop.

  • High release. To make sure the shot goes up softly so if I don't go straight in,

  • it has a great chance to bounce around the rim and use its touch to go in the basket.

  • Nobody makes every shot, so never get mad if you miss a shot. Just try to be consistent

  • to shoot the exact same way every time.

  • How do you do this? Give the ball a chance.

  • Use your proper technique but have a high arc and a backspin so if the ball goes up in the air,

  • it has a chance to bounce in if it doesn't go straight in.

  • Defense is hard work.

  • And man-to-man full court pressure is one of the toughest things to do in the game.

  • What's important in full court pressure? You want to try to force your opponent to use their offhand.

  • Get them change directions and play a speed they're not comfortable playing it.

  • How do you do that?

  • By staying low, having a wide base, your back straight and your eyes up.

  • When your opponent takes off the dribble, you want to try to slide and beat him into the spot and make them change direction.

  • As Leo changes his direction, I want to open my body up and turn and slide and try to beat him in the next position.

  • Till he picks up his dribble.

  • Now what happens if I get beaten?

  • If Leo is too quick for me and beats me off the dribble,

  • I’ll have to turn and run.

If the guide hand comes off the ball, you have a high release to make sure you get a good arc on the ball.
