AMID ALL THE CONTROVERSY OF LATE,
UNITED AIRLINES HAS CHANGED A POLICY SAYING THE CREW CANNOT
DISPLACE SEATED PASSENGERS.
THEY WILL NO LONGER ALLOW CREWMEMBERS
TO DISPLACE PASSENGERS ALREADY ON BOARD AN AIRPLANE.
THIS IS
DUE TO AN INCIDENT THAT HAPPENED
LAST WEEK WITH THE DR.
DAVID DAO.
A COUPLE ASSERTS THAT THEY
WERE KICKED OFF A UNITED FLIGHT
ON THEIR WAY TO THEIR WEDDING.
THEY WERE THE LAST PEOPLE TO GET
ONTO A FLIGHT GOING FROM HOUSTON TO COSTA RICA.
WHAT THEY WERE
TRYING TO DO WAS MOVE FROM THEIR
SEAT TO ECONOMY PLUS.
THEY WERE ASKED TO BE REMOVED FROM THE
FLIGHT BY A US AIR MARSHALL.
JUST ANOTHER THING TO ADD TO
WHAT IS GOING ON WITH UNITED
RIGHT NOW. IS THERE ANYTHING THEY CAN DO TO TURN THIS AROUND?
STORIES ARE JUST COMING OUT OF EVERYWHERE AT THIS POINT.
>> RIGHT NOW I THINK THERE IS A LOT OF PEOPLE ON PLANES WHO SAY
PEOPLE ARE BECOMING MONSTERS BECAUSE THEY WANT MILLIONS IN
SETTLEMENTS.
THERE IS AN ORIGINAL PROBLEM.
IT SEEMS LIKE
THAT STORY WAS A PERFECT STORM OF A LOT OF PEOPLE MAKING A LOT
OF MISTAKES.
IT WAS MOSTLY UNITED, AND THEN THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT.
THAT GENERAL DYNAMIC FEELS UNJUST.
THAT WAS A PERFECT
STORM AND AT THIS POINT I FEEL LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE TRYING
TO PILE ONTO THAT INSTEAD OF
FOCUS ON WHAT THE INJUSTICE REALLY WAS WHICH WAS
OVERBOOKING.

IS FINALLY PEOPLE PUSHING BACK.
BUT I THINK BRETT IS RIGHT.

THERE IS A MELEE.
NOW IF YOU DON'T GET THE PEANUTS ON UNITED
THEY WILL SAY UNITED DID IT
AGAIN.
THAT IS KIND OF WHERE WE ARE HEADED NOW.
I'M GLAD THERE
IS A LITTLE BIT OF PUSHBACK BECAUSE THERE WAS THIS ATTITUDE
OF IF YOU EVEN LOOK AT SOMEONE IN AN AIRPORT THE WRONG WAY YOU
GET THROWN OUT.
I THINK THOSE DAYS MIGHT BE COMING TO AN END WHICH IS NOT
A BAD THING?
>> AT LEAST FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE.
KNOWING AIRLINES, THEY
HAVE ALWAYS BEEN KIND OF SHITTY.
>> AND THEY CONTROL A LOT OF STUFF.
THE SOLUTION WOULD'VE
BEEN FOR THEM TO HAVE HIRED MORE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS SO THEY HAVE
PEOPLE ON THE GROUND IN
LOUISVILLE.
OR THEY HAD TO BE NOTIFIED EARLIER.
THEY HAD
ENOUGH AUTOMATION TO ASSUME HOW MAY PEOPLE WERE GOING TO MISS
THEIR FLIGHTS.
A LOT OF TIME THERE CREW SCHEDULING SERVICE IS
NOT AUTOMATED ENOUGH FOR THEM TO
KNOW AHEAD OF TIME AND SIGNAL AHEAD OF TIME TO GET CREWS TO
WHERE THEY NEED TO BE.
YOU ARE STILL GOING TO GET BUMPED, AND
IT SUCKS, BUT AT LEAST THEY WILL
NOT HAVE TO COME DOWN AND PULL SOMEONE OUT OF THEIR SEAT AS
MUCH AS THEY USED TO.
