Now, I’ve got a few flamingo flowers in my own yard, 我自家後院也種了些火鶴花

but I’m not really sure where it came from. 但其實我不知道它們是從哪裡來的

Rumor has it that it all came from this town, Lioujia. 聽說它們都是來自這個城鎮 六甲

You know the flamingo flowers of Lioujia are famous, 六甲的火鶴花有名到

when you see a flamingo flower-themed bus stop here. 連這裡的公車站也做成火鶴花的造型呢

But where are the real flowers? 但是真的火鶴花在哪呢?

I’ve been looking everywhere, 我到處都找遍了

but I can’t seem to find them. 就是找不到

Oh! I found them! It turns out, 喔找到了! 原來

flamingo flowers must be grown in greenhouses 火鶴花必須種植在溫室裡

as they are susceptible to bacterial blight. 因為火鶴非常害怕遇到細菌性葉枯病

Even though you can’t really see flamingo flowers in Lioujia, 雖然在六甲看不到火鶴花

they are still shipped to the wholesale market every afternoon, 但花農每天下午會把花送到批發市場

where they are auctioned off to different flower markets. 拍賣後再送到花市販售

New shipments usually arrive between 6PM and 8PM, 下午六點到八點多是進貨時間

and by 9PM, the flower market becomes fully stocked. 晚上九點則是花色最齊全的時間

The flower markets in Tainan open from 6AM to 11PM, 臺南花市的開放時間是早上六點到晚上十一點

and they are practically open all year round. 可以說是全年無休喔

As a major producer of flamingo flowers, 身為火鶴花的重要產地

roughly 70% of the flamingo flowers 六甲有大約百分之七十的

in Lioujia are for the export market. 火鶴花都是外銷

About 30% are intended for the domestic market. 百分之30左右都是在內銷

The flamingo flowers of Lioujia 在全臺灣各大花市

can be found in numerous flower markets throughout Taiwan. 都可以看到六甲的火鶴花

Flamingo flowers can be found all year round, 火鶴一年四季都有

although its peak season is from April to October. 每年四月到十月是旺季

Once planted, it takes about four months 火鶴種植後約四個月左右

for the flamingo flowers to bloom, 就會開花

and they come in many different cultivars 並有非常多的品系

such as New President, Taichi, Apple Green, 例如新總統、太極、蘋果綠

Every cultivar you see here can be found in Lioujia. 這邊看到的品種六甲都有

Flamingo flowers are an important part of floriculture, 火鶴在花卉當中扮演非常重要的配角

and in the case of the art of flower arrangement, 花藝表現上在兩側插入火鶴

it creates a visual extension when inserted on the sides, 可以延伸視覺

making the work a little more graceful. 讓作品看起來更大方

Flamingo flowers also have a relatively long vase life. 而火鶴花也適合長期擺放

Of the flowers found in the floriculture market, 銷售的花卉裡面

it’s a pretty resilient and hardy type of flower. 它算是蠻耐的一種花

After brining home your flamingo flowers, 火鶴花買回家之後

don’t place it in too much water. 水也不要放得太多
