I got a computer here with this iPhone. Computer is like the stage coach. Gone. - (FBE) Before we dive in more, since the new phones were announced, there's been a lot of jokes made about them online, so we're gonna show you what some people had to say. - Oh, good. - Oh, I can imagine. Let's go for it here, huh. - (laughs) Every time I pick up my iPhone X, I have to rip my face off. That's funny. - He rips his face off? (chuckles) - (laughs) It's getting really weird. - That's funny, 'cause I can never remember my husband's numbers, and I'm going, "Give me your phone! I want it! Na na! Let me answer! Let me get in your phone! I just wanna call the kids!" - "iPhone 8: no headphones. iPhone X: no home button. iPhone 12: no camera. iPhone 14: no battery. iPhone 16: no phone." (chuckles) And that'll be $3,000. - I believe that we will have implants. I truly-- why couldn't it be? I mean, so this person may know something. - Cute. (chuckles) Some people have nothing better to do, really. (laughs) - Apple, they're a target. They make zillions of dollars. Everything they put out just about as successful. I mean, it is incredible. And I need a new phone, and I don't wanna upgrade for $700. - (FBE) So the iPhone has completely revolutionized smartphones over the years as it was one of the first smartphones to utilize the touchscreen, video chatting, and many other innovations that have since become industry standards. So do you have a smartphone yourself? - Yes. I'm lost if I leave without it, if I go anywhere without it. - I got two of 'em. I love 'em. They make life much easier. - I do. It's become a necessity, just, like, your third hand. - I have an Android, and I want this one, the X! - My husband talked me into it. (laughs) I was perfectly happy with my little phone. I'm happy that I have it now. - Just about any line of work you're in, you have to have access to the internet on your phone. You know, you can't wait till you get to a computer most of the time. - I do have a smartphone. It took me a long time to get one. I didn't give in until I had a couple of friends who looked at my flip phone and just laughed. I don't know how I lived without one for so long. - (FBE) So as you saw, when Apple made this announcement, they did so during a two-hour livestream, which they broadcast across multiple platforms. And many people actually tune in live or watch the full recap of the event. - Are these the ones that then ran down to the store to get in line five days ahead? - (FBE) So when you were younger, did you ever get this excited about new technology, that you would actually sit down and watch an announcement video when a new piece of tech came out? - No. We didn't have all this technology when I was younger. - No, I wouldn't have. It would be boring to me. Two hours of anything, and I either got to go to the bathroom or go to sleep. - Major appliances. You know, they used to have refrigerator ads and things like that. As far as having a show, a live show, no. The only live shows were telethons. - My father was a Xerox copy machine salesman, and they had events when they unleashed sorters. So I think that's always happened. It happens with cars. It happens with car shows. It happens with... so I think it's normal. - They used to when cars came out, when new cars-- when I was a young kid, and if they had any kind of new technology, it would be almost like a video reel, but not like it's newsworthy, like this is, you know? And that's what's brilliant. That's all part of the brilliance of Apple. - (FBE) Finally, the iPhone 8 will be released on September 22nd\, and the X will be released on November 3rd. Will you be buying one? - No. Oh yeah. I'm in line already, man. - I will not be buying either of them. - I won't buy it till I need to. (ding) I have a great phone. - No, I still have time left on my contract. (chuckles) - I would definitely be interested in buying that phone. (ding) Not that I need it. - I'd be interested in getting the X, but maybe not in the first wave, (ding) because often they have things wrong with them. I probably would wait a little bit, maybe a year or so. - I'm overdue for an iUpgrade. (ding) But boy, that's a lot of money. - No, because (chuckles) I'm perfectly happy with what I have. By the time the 13 comes out, (laughs) I will have the X. - Thanks for watching this episode of Elders React. - Subscribe and hit that bell for new shows every week. - Thanks for watching and welcome to the future! - Hey, guys. Kyle from FBE here. Thanks so much for watching this episode of Elders React. Are you gonna get the iPhone X? I got the iPhone 7 last year. It's already three generations old? That's insane!
