  • Hello, this is Crown!

    哈囉我是滴妹!

  • Today, I'm gonna talk about words commonly used in British English

    今天要來介紹英式英文的常用語!

  • British English

    英式英文

  • Many people , just like me, like the UK and their accent

    很多人可能跟我一樣很喜歡英國,也超愛英國腔

  • But comparing to American English

    不過相較於美式英文

  • I believe that we are less familiar to British English

    我相信大家對於英式英文是比較陌生的

  • There are many words that are used only in British English

    英式英文當中,有很多字是他們獨特擁有的

  • If you heared them suddenly in a movie or a TV series

    可能在看電影的時候或是影集的時候突然遇到

  • maybe you cannot see their meanings

    就會不太知道他們的意思

  • Next week, a movie I've been waiting for a long time will be released

    下禮拜就有一部我期待已久的電影要上映

  • which is "怪獸與他們的產地"

也就是 Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

  • Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

    怪獸與牠們的產地

  • The main character, Newt Scamander in it starred by Eddie Redmayne

    其中 Eddie Redmayne 所飾演的男主角

  • is from British

    Newt Scamander 就是英國人

  • (Are you cosplaying as him today?)

    (欸你今天是 cosplay 成他嗎?)

  • Yeah! Do I look like him?

    對阿!有沒有像?

  • So, before going to the movie

    因此,在去看電影之前

  • I'm going to tell you

    今天就要來教大家認識一下

  • the words I think are commonly used in British English

    我個人認為常聽到的英式英文用語入門班!

  • And don't forget to watch until the end, there is a surprise!

    那記得要看到最後喔,會有一個小驚喜!

  • Even though some words in British English are very unique

    雖然英式英文有些字是非常獨特的

  • there are similar words in American English

    不過相對的在美式英文也有類似的字

  • So I am gonna show both of them to you

    所以我會把兩個都給大家看

  • and do some simple introductions

    再來會做簡單的介紹

  • "Bloody" can be used before almost every word

    Bloody 幾乎可以加在任何字的前面

  • to emphsize

    用來當作強調語氣

  • And the similar word in American English is "freaking"

    那比較接近的美式用法是 freaking

  • or "f**king" is also fine

    或者是... f**king ...也可以

  • I'm so bloody excited

    我超級無敵興奮那部

  • for the new Fantastic Beasts movie to come out!

    「怪獸與牠們的產地」電影的上映!

  • When you feel something is strange, weird

    當你覺得某件事情很怪、詭異

  • or not usual

    或者就是哪裡不對勁的話

  • you can use "dodgy" to describe it

    就可以用 dodgy 來形容它

  • I think the word is really similar to the verb "dodge" which means "閃躲"

    這個字我覺得很像動詞 dodge 也就是閃躲

  • so there's a easy way to remember this word

    所以有個很簡單的記憶法就是

  • If you dodge something

    如果你在閃躲什麼東西的話

  • it means that there are something strange

    就代表事情有蹊蹺

  • In American English, we can say "suspicious"

    那美式的用法可以用 suspicious

  • I think I saw a lot of dodgy people in the trailer

    我在預告片裡好像看到很多可疑奇怪的人

  • I'll be keeping my eyes on them.

    我會好好盯著他們的一舉一動的

  • "Brilliant" is also commonly used in American English

    Brilliant 這個字雖然在美式也很常聽見

  • but it's much more popular in British English

    不過卻是英式英文當中非常愛用的字

  • This common word is clear

    那這個通用語非常的簡單明瞭

  • It means great, awesome

    也就是很棒,很讚的意思

  • Usually we'll use it when we heard something great as a response

    通常會使用在聽到好消息之後的回應當中

  • The Fantastic Beasts movie is having its premiere

    「怪獸與牠們的產地」電影的首映會

  • next Tuesday, it's brilliant!

    是在下禮拜二耶,超棒 der!~

  • "Gob", in British English, means "mouth"

    Gob 在英式代表嘴巴

  • and "smack" as a verb means "hit"

    而 smack 若當作動詞則是有打的意思

  • so "gobsmacked" is like when you're surprised

    所以 gobsmacked 就是當你很吃驚的時候

  • you will do this like "hit your mouth"

    你就會做這個像是在「打嘴巴的動作」

  • In American English, if we 're surprised

    在美式英文,如果我們很吃驚的話

  • we can use "shocked" or "astonished"

    就可以用 shocked 或者是 astonished

  • I would be utterly gobsmacked

    如果鄧不利多出現在這部新電影裡的話

  • if Dumbledore were to appear in the new movie

    我一定會嚇到嘴巴掉下來

  • In British English, "wicked" means very cool

    在英式中,wicked 的意思是非常酷,很帥的意思

  • but in American English, it means bad and evil

    不過在美式,則是不好,邪惡的意思

  • So if you want to find a similar word in American English, you can use "cool"

    所以如果想在美式表達類似的意思可以用 cool

  • I can't wait to see

    我等不及要在電影裡看到

  • all those wicked spells and enchantments in the movie!

    那些酷炫的咒語跟魔法了!

  • and in American English we can use "devastated"

  • I couldn't get the tickets for the Fantastic Beasts

    我超難過沮喪的

    不管是在美式還是在英式裡

  • No matter in American or British English

    我們在乾杯的時候都可以講 cheers

  • we can use "cheers" before we drink an alcoholic drink

    不過在英式裡

  • but in British English

    cheers 大部分時候是代表謝謝,有時會代表再見

  • "cheers" often means "thank you"

    那這邊也要特別注意

  • sometimes it means "goodbye"

    在美式英文裡,cheers 通常只會有乾杯的意思喔

  • And you also have to be aware of that

    幫我弄到「怪獸與牠們的產地」的電影票

  • in American English, "cheers" can only be used before you drink alcohol

    真的是謝啦!

  • In British English, if you wanted to use a word

    在美式類似的詞則可以說 wow

  • to show surprise, you can say "blimey"

    或是 oh my God

  • The similar word in American English is "wow"

    我的天阿!

  • or "oh my god"

    他剛剛真的是從皮箱裡爬出來的嗎?

  • Blimey!

    這在英國是一個普遍的暱稱

  • Did he really crawl out of a suitcase?

    我們會用 mate 來去叫你的好麻吉

  • It is a common used word

    在美式英文當中如果你要稱呼一位好友

  • We use "mate" when talking to a friend

    則是會用 bro, buddy 或者是 pal

    那在英式英文的使用上

  • you can also use "garbage"

    是當你覺得某件事很荒謬的話

  • But in British English

    你就可以用這個字來說你認為他在亂講

  • if you thought something is nonsensical

    那在美式當中就等同於說 nonsense
