Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Hey what's up guys, it's Cory here. Today we're in Hai Phong, a port city located 90km east of Hanoi. It's the 3rd most populous city in Vietnam. We're going to have an awesome seafood lunch at a restaurant tucked away in a really small alley. Here's the alley full of people eating, and right here's the restaurant where you order. And as you can see, just motorcycles going right by you as you eat. But check this out. There's a wide variety of snails, clams, and other seafood goodies to choose from. First, you place your order with the staff and they begin to cook up the dishes right away. The fresh seafood and reasonable prices make this place very busy every single day. We ended up ordering 5 different dishes to try. These are rock crab claws cooked in a tamarind and plum sauce. Here's a claw that's been cracked open. You can see the nice fat meat sticking in there. Going to suck the meat out. So much meat in these claws. It's very messy, but it's fun. And it tastes really, really good! Alright, so we got some Oc Len, this is kind of like a spiral snail here. And let me show you how to eat this, we have some wire cutters here. And we're going to snip off the tip. So there's a hole. And then, we dip it in this sauce. Then you suck the snail out from the big hole. So the air goes in the small hole and then comes out the big hole. It's as easy as that! Let's try to suck out more of these spiral snails. It's fun! There's a little bitter taste to that one, but with the sauce it counteracts that bitterness. These are kind of like a little developed quail egg. So you can see it's similar to the bigger one, the duck egg that I ate in the Hoi An video. But these are smaller, you can see that it fits on a spoon like this. And you can see it's got what looks like an eyeball in there. That's partially developed. But it's also got some other stuff here, there's some cripsy shallots on top. I'm going to eat the whole thing. Wow. Mmmm! That's like some kind of ginger sauce. It's weird because I feel like I'm eating an egg, but it's also very meaty, so I'm like "Am I eating a piece of chicken?" It's a very interesting texture, but the flavor is really nice. Alright so our 4th dish came out. It's these snails right there. We're kind of almost already done with the crab claws. Still making our way through the spiral snails. Haven't touched the oysters on ice yet. This is Nước chấm dipping sauce. And I've added some red chilies and a bunch of minced ginger. So this is going to be what we use to dip the snails over here. So we got this little pointy device to help pull out the snail. As you can see, it comes right out like that. And then you dip it in the sauce. And enjoy. Let's go ahead and pull this one out. Ohhhh yeah! Look at that! And we dip it into this sauce. hahahaha Yummy! Wow, that's got some kick! I added a lot of chili peppers to my dipping sauce, very spicy! But it goes really well with the ginger! I like that a lot! Yeah, let's go for this oyster here. Let's get some lime on that. Just a little. Whoops. Got some seed on there. Pull that seed out. Bye seed! And now we're going to put some chili on there. Some chili sauce. Oh oh oh! Looks good! Ok, you guys know that whenever there's a chance to have raw oysters, I always take it. I love raw oysters! Let's go! Mmmm! Wow! That's some of the freshest oysters I've had in Vietnam, hands down. One good turn deserves another. Here we go! Another oyster! Mmmm! Oh so creamy and silky smooth. That was a meaty one too! Since this is really messy, they actually have a cleaning station. Let me show you real quick. So right here they have this little faucet to wash your hands, which is totally cool. But then this, this little bucket here. You can see there. This little bucket, on the inside, it has this like warm brothy thing. And it smells kind of sweet like ginger or tea or something, I don't know. But you dip your hands in it after you wash so they don't smell like seafood. Isn't that cool? If you guys are looking to eat here, I have the address down below in the description box. Check it out, come here, they're super friendly! Alright guys, it's rapidly approaching night time so I'm going to go ahead and wrap this up. Thanks for watching!! And I'll see you guys in the next video, bye!!!
