  • Hi everybody it's Professor T these are questions from the IELTS Speaking test

  • that had been asked in 2017. A very important question that gets asked is

  • about tourism and visiting a certain place and what are the benefits or

  • disadvantages for using public transportation and then what are the

  • benefits or disadvantages to the local people who live in the tourist area. I'm

  • going to give you an example of an answer that covers all of this this

  • would be for Parts 2 & 3 on the IELTS Speaking Test. So you asked about

  • visiting a tourist area. For me I like to go to the seaside because I love to go

  • swimming. I like to go fishing. I love to eat seafood and it's very relaxing to be

  • by the seashore with my friends and family. When I go to a tourist area like

  • that I do use a public transportation I know how much I'm going to pay and I

  • know when the bus or the metro or other transportation is going to leave and I

  • know I'll get to the place at a certain time it helps me organize my day so it's

  • a most efficient and I don't have to worry about driving. The benefits for

  • people going to a tourist area is more employment for the people who rent out

  • the hotel rooms or houses that people make and serve the food the people who

  • help with tours. For every tourist place during the busiest seasons you can have

  • more pollution from visitors. You can have more traffic and also a lot more

  • noise in that location but there are benefits and disadvantages for going to

  • all these places but we love doing it because we do get some relaxation or we

  • learn something from the place that we go so overall I think it's a good thing

  • to do as long as you can do it in a way that's environmentally conscious.

  • So in that answer I used benefits and disadvantages and addressing them you

  • can do this for many types of questions in the IELTS Speaking Test Parts 2 and

  • 3 where on the one hand and there are advantages and on the other hand

  • there are disadvantages. That shows you can weigh or think of an argument in

  • your head or think of the reason and how to analyze something and that will give

  • you a higher score on the IELTS Remember that many people who go into the IELTS

  • are very nervous- they are sweating - it's hot and it's very unnatural to sit in

  • front of a stranger and be asked a lot of very technical questions under a

  • severe time limit so if you can prepare for the IELTS Speaking Test Parts 2 & 3

  • especially by thinking on the one hand or on the other in my opinion I

  • understand that I have heard in my experience you can have all these

  • phrases and ways of answering the question you'll get a better score it

  • will sound more fluent and sound more mature and sound more organized and also

  • it will be more interesting for the IELTS examiner because he or she has to

  • sit there all day and hear superstars in English and then people who don't know

  • as much give answers. If you go in and give a great answer like that that's

  • organized you'll make that person so happy they'll have to give you a higher

  • band score and then you can go and be successful at school or at work or

  • living outside of your home country so good luck and study hard and remember

  • always tell a great story
