Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Hi, Guys, I'm Kristen and Welcome to Studio Knit! I'm so excited to share with you these little coffee cozies. I wanted to share these with you during the holidays because they make really awesome quick knit gifts. Aren't they adorable? So we have these really cute little rib pattern on both ends here, just like a real sweater. And we have a little pocket that actually does work as a pocket and these little arms that are actually 3-dimensional with gloves that have these little thumbs. And once the lid is on these little guys have a whole bunch of personality all to themselves. For our MATERIALS, we will use Knitting Needles Size 7US, Aran Weighted Yarn and your color choice is totally optional. I'm using the colorful yarn by Mira Goods that I shared in a previous video. The link on where to purchase it is in the description below. Scissors, and a Tapestry Needle. To begin, we make our slip knot then using the long tail cast on method, cast on 32 stitches. Next we knit in the 2x2 rib stitch pattern, which is just Knit Two and Purl Two all the way down the row for your first 4 rows to make the top of our cozy. Next, simply knit 16 rows in any stitch pattern of your choice. These are in stockinette stitch. You can also do the garter stitch, seed stitch, or even the bamboo stitch. There are lots of fun knit stitch patterns to choose and I will leave a link to my favorites in the description below, along with my written pattern. Now we just finish up with the 2x2 rib stitch pattern for our four last rows, and bind off. To knit the little pocket, we just cast on 8 stitches, knit in the stockinette stitch for 6 rows, and then bind off. For our arms, we will cast on 8 stitches, knit in the garter stitch for 8 rows, and here on our last eighth row which would normally be a purl row, we are going to knit it to make this little cuff ridge right here. So switch to a different color yarn. The using the cable cast on method, we will add 3 stitches to our needle. If you're not familiar with the cable cast on method, I have a link on how to do it below. Once we are done with those three stitches, we will knit down that row, come around and purl the next row. To finish our thumb, we just bind off these 3 stitches, and continue knitting for four more rows and bind off. With the right sides of your arms facing, simply tack along the edge, turn it right side out, and you have one little arm. Once you've made two arms, we can have fun tacking our little sweater accessories to our main cozy! I like to have the bind off edge on the bottom, since it's not as stretchy as where we cast on. First tack on our little pocket, keeping that pocket opening. When placing your arms, make sure both of your thumbs are pointing upward. And we just seam up our edge and you are DONE! So cute! I hope you are inspired to make these quick knit coffee cup cozies for your friends & family, too.
