  • Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Idioms 186. The idiom today is love at

  • first sight. Okay. Let's take a look at the note here. This idiom literally means

  • just what it expresses. The idea that two people could have an instant attraction

  • and immediately fall in love. It is mostly used about two people, but could

  • sometimes be used about things as well. Okay. So let's take a look at the first

  • example here. The first time I laid eyes on my wife, it was love at first sight. I

  • knew she was the one for me. Yeah. So you sometimes you hear people say this. You

  • know, the first time they laid eyes on their wife or their husband that was the

  • person I was meant to marry. You often hear that used in this way. When you say

  • it's love at first sight. Okay. Let's look at example number two. Yeah . Sometimes you

  • hear people kind of laughing at it, or mocking it too. So sometimes you might

  • hear an example like this. There is no such thing as love at first sight. That

  • is just nonsense. There may be lust at first sight, but not real love. Okay. Yeah.

  • A lot of people will jokingly say that, or maybe they'll say love at first sight,

  • that's only in the movies. You know, that's that's another one that you often

  • hear. All right and let's look at number three. When I saw that sports car in the

  • showroom, it was love at first sight. I knew I had to buy it. All right. So the last

  • example is one where it's not people. It could be things. So sometimes we could

  • use it that way as well. All right. Good. Anyway, I hope you got it. I hope it's

  • clear. Thank you for your time. Bye-bye.
