Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Idioms 225. The idiom today is to go in one ear and out the other. Okay. So let's take a look at the note here. If something goes in one ear and out the other, something is heard and soon after ignored or forgotten. Yeah. So we usually use it kind of in a humorous way and a funny way meaning that you're telling somebody they're kind of acknowledging it as you're telling it, but right after either they forget it . They really forget it or they just ignore you. So that's what we mean by something goes in one ear and out the other. So let's look at some examples here. Example number one. Every time I try to explain the importance of doing his homework it goes in one ear and out the other. My son says okay , but he still doesn't do it. Okay. That's a perfect example or number two here. If it is not the election season and you complain to your local politician, it just goes in one ear and out the other. Yeah. A lot of people will say that if it's election season they'll probably at least pretend like they're listening to you. But if it's not election season they, they don't need your vote right now. So whatever you say to them goes in one ear and out the other. Anyway I hope you got it. I hope it was clear. Thank you for your time. Bye-bye.
