Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles THE WAKE OF THIS CATEGORY 2 HURRICANE. >> Bill: FEDERAL GOVERNMENT NOW READY WITH ITS RESPONSE ON DORIAN. U.S. COAST GUARD ALREADY STEPPING IN TO RESCUE DOZENS IN THE BAHAMAS. WHAT A PLACE THAT HAS BEEN DEVASTATED NOW. THE STORM SLAMMED THAT ISLAND TURNING ITS ATTENTION TO THE SOUTHEAST U.S. COAST. WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENT JOHN ROBERTS HAS MORE FROM THE NORTH LAWN THERE. JOHN, GOOD DAY. >> GOOD MORNING. THE U.S. MILITARY ALSO WORKING IN THE BAHAMAS TO TRY TO CLEAR RUNWAYS TO GET RELIEF SUPPLIES INTO THE HARD-HIT AREAS IN GREAT ABACO AND GRAND BA HAMA ISLAND. THE STATE GOVERNORS IN CHARGE OF THE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT RESPONSE TO ANYTHING THAT A HURRICANE DOES WHEN IT COMES THROUGH. THEY WORK IN CONJUNCTION WITH LOCAL OFFICIALS AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S JOB TO BACK UP THE GOVERNORS TO TRY TO GIVE THEM WHATEVER THEY NEED. FEMA WAS WELL PREPARED WE'RE TOLD BY PRESIDENT TRUMP IN PUERTO RICO AND AGAIN IN FLORIDA AS IT LOOKED LIKE DORIAN WAS SETTING ITS SIGHTS ON THAT PART OF THE STATE AND IS NOW REPOSITIONING SUPPLIES TO PREPARE FOR A POSSIBLE LANDING EITHER IN THE NORTHERN PART OF SOUTH CAROLINA OR ALONG THE OUTER BANKS OF NORTH CAROLINA. LISTEN TO WHAT THE ACTING SECRETARY OF HOMELAND SECURITY SAID ABOUT IT. >> WE'VE BEEN VERY WELL PREPARED AND COORDINATED FULLY WITH THE STATES. A LOT OF PRE-EMPLOYED ASSETS TO FULLY RESPOND AFTER THE STORM HITS AND REPOSITIONING SOME OF THE ASSETS THAT WERE FURTHER SOUTH IN CENTRAL FLORIDA. WE'RE READY FOR THIS STORM. >> AT THE SAME TIME IT'S CHURNING IN THE ATLANTIC OCEAN. THE PRESIDENT CONTINUES TO DEFEND A TWEET HE SENT OUT SUNDAY MORNING WHERE HE SAID ALABAMA COULD POSSIBLY GET DAMAGE FROM DORIAN. ALABAMA WOULD BE HIT OR GRAZED AND DORIAN TOOK A DIFFERENT PLAN ALONG THE EAST COAST. THE FAKE NEWS KNOWS THIS WELL. A BIT OF CONTROVERSY ERUPTED OVER IT. AT THE HURRICANE BRIEFING THE PRESIDENT HELD UP A GRAPHIC FROM LAST FRIDAY THE 30th WHICH APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN MODIFIED WITH A SHARPY TO EXTEND THE BUBBLE OUT THERE TO INCLUDE THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE AND PARTS OF ALABAMA. THE PRESIDENT WAS ASKED HOW THE LINE GOT THERE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. >> President Trump: THE ORIGINAL PATH WAS THROUGH FLORIDA. PROBABLY THREE DAYS. I THINK THAT'S PROBABLY THREE OR FOUR DAYS OLD. THE ORIGINAL PATH MOST PEOPLE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE TAKING WAS THROUGH FLORIDA WHERE ON THE RIGHT WOULD HAVE BEEN GEORGIA OR ALABAMA. >> IT LOOKS LIKE THERE WAS A SHARPY. >> I DON'T KNOW. >> THE PRESIDENT SAYING HE DIDN'T KNOW HOW THE LINE GOT THERE AND TWEETED OUT A GRAPHIC OF HURRICANE MODEL PLOTS TO PROVE THAT ALABAMA WAS AT RISK AND SOME TRACKS DID COME VERY CLOSE TO THE EASTERN PART OF ALABAMA. BUT THOSE SPAGHETTI MODELS WERE FROM THURSDAY, AUGUST 28th. BY THE TIME THE PRESIDENT TWEETED ABOUT ALABAMA AT 10:51 A.M. ON SUNDAY THE FORECAST TRACK HAD MOVED WELL EAST. THE 8:00 IN THE MORNING WARNING ON SUNDAY THE 1st AND YOU CAN SEE THEY'RE INDICATING THAT DORIAN WOULD STAY WELL-OFF SHORE AND WELL AWAY FROM ALABAMA. SOME PEOPLE ARE SUGGESTING BY ALTERING A FORECAST MAP THE PRESIDENT BROKE A FEDERAL LAW. LET'S NOT FORGET THAT'S AN OLD MAP. IT WASN'T A CURRENT FORECAST. THAT MAY BE A HARD CASE TO MAKE. BUT I THINK WHAT WE REALLY NEED TO STRESS IN ALL OF THIS, BILL, A LOT OF PEOPLE, A LOT OF PROPERTY IN HARM'S WAY AND THERE IS A LOT FOR THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT LOCAL AND STATE
