Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles SNOW IS STARTING TO STICK TO THE NORTH OF US. THIS VIDEO JUST INTEREST FROM McHENRY COUNTY WHERE OFFICERS ARE RESPONDING TO SEVERAL CRASHES. HIGH WINDS WHIPPING AROUND, THE SNOW NOT HELPING CONDITIONS AT ALL. THIS CRASH HAPPENED IN CRYSTAL LAKE. MARY KAY HERE TRACKING WHAT IS QUICKLY TURNING TO SNOW. BETWEEN NOW AND 10:00 LOOKS TO BE THE TIMEFRAME FOR THE BEST SNOW COVERAGE. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY. THE AREA HAS EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL OF NORTHWEST INDIANA NEAR MORRIS AND OTTAWA TILL 3 A.M. WE STILL HAVE THE WINTER STORM WARNING FOR LAKE AND McHENRY COUNTIES. GETTING A COUPLE OF STORM REPORTS COMING IN OF EARLY SNOW TOTALS AT THE AIRPORT THERE. ABOUT A HALF INCH OF SNOW. ROCKFORD GETTING AN ENGINE SO FAR. THE TEMPERATURES HAS PLAYED A BIG PART IN THIS. WE HAVE SEEN THE COLDER AIR TO THE NORTH. BUT NOT ENOUGH MOISTURE WORKING INTO THERE JUST YET. AND THE NORTHWEST INDIANA IN THE MID-30s EARLIER BUT NOW WE NOTICE TEMPERATURES ARE STARTING TO FALL. AS THE MAIN SNOW BAN MOVES AND THAT'LL HELP TO CREATE ALL SNOW INSTEAD OF THAT RAIN. AS I HAVE THIS IN MOTION IT WAS RAIN LAST HOUR AND NOW IT'S CHANGING OVER TO A VERY FINE SNOW IN NORTHWEST INDIANA AS THE TEMPERATURE DROPS. THE BEST COVERAGE NOW OF THE SNOW SHOWER ACTIVITY IS IN THE STARKER, BLUISH PURPLE COLOR. WE HAVE STEADY SNOW TO AND INTO ROCKFORD. THEN A LITTLE BIT TO THE SOUTH THROUGH OTTAWA, ALL OF THIS IS STARTING TO RIDE INTO THE WHITE AND WILMINGTON. AND EVENTUALLY INTO WILL COUNTY AND THEN INTO COOK COUNTY. THE WINDS ARE STILL WITH US TONIGHT, THE HIGHEST I COULD FIND TODAY AT SOLDIER FIELD, 55 MILE PER HOUR. TROPICAL STORM STARTS WITH WINDS OF 39 MILES PER HOUR. THAT TELLS YOU HOW WINDY IT WAS TODAY. BOLINGBROOK 35 MILE PER HOUR, MIDWAY SAME THERE. WINDS TO 48 MILES PER HOUR. RIGHT NOW THEY ARE GUSTING TO 43 MILES PER HOUR. NOTICE HOW WINDS ARE MAINLY OUT OF THE NORTH FOR THE MOMENT. WE STILL HAVE HIGH WAVES WITH US. AS WE LOOK AT OUR WAVE TRACKER THREE NOW AT 10:00 WE WILL KEEP THOSE WINDS UP. BUT AFTER MIDNIGHT AND STARTED DYING DOWN. IN THE MORNING WE EXPECT ABOUT 2-4 FOOT WAVE. ON THE SNOW TRACKER WE HAVE SNOW IN THE FORECAST SOUTH AND THEN LIFTING INTO COOK COUNTY THROUGH 8:00, THROUGH THE 9:00 HOUR. BUT IN AFTER 10:00 TO MIDNIGHT EVERYTHING BREAKS UP. WE LOSE THE MOISTURE. IT ALL MOVES AWAY FROM THE PICTURE. OVER THE LAST HOUR I HAVE NOTICED THE MODELS ARE TRENDING DOWN A HAIR ON SOME OF THE SNOWFALL TOTALS. I AM STILL GOING 1-4 INCHES AND UNDER IS NO BAN SNOW BAN, IT IS POSSIBLE YOU CAN GET A FEW FIVE INCH TOTALS BUT WITH THE STORM MOVING SO QUICKLY, IT IS NOT GOING TO HAVE A LOT OF TIME TO BE AROUND. I GUESS WE ARE LOOKING AT INTENSITY OF THE SNOW BANDS AS THEY MOVE THROUGH, AND IT'S HARD TO PINPOINT EXACTLY WHERE THOSE LINEUP, BUT JUST KNOW THAT NOW, UNTIL 10:00, WILL BE THE TIME TO SEE THE BEST CHANCE FOR SNOW ACCUMULATION.
