  • a relaxed area and well living here I am able to switch off from my job really and relax.

  • I work near the seafront so it's quite nice every day going to work and pass the sea.

  • There's a lot of different cultures where I work and we work for different complex families,

  • so it's very good experience really".

  • Debra Wright spent 10 years working in London before moving to Kent for a better quality

  • of life.

  • "I worked in London for the last 10 years and that it was very busy and I wasn't enjoying

  • it as much and I just wanted a slower pace of life, but still with the challenge of Social

  • work.

  • Driving to and from your appointments is quite different from driving in London because your

  • just driving through gorgeous little villages and the scenery is amazing".

  • are supported every step of the way.

  • "I have a very good team and very good managers and we have good structure in our work and

  • I think its, well make us feel safe really so its easy to get settled".

  • "There are loads of facilities for children in Kent and families that we never had while

  • we were living in London.

  • So we have that here, we are able be a lot more together as a family, than being a lot

  • of distractions like in other cities, that are not in Kent.

  • So my children are actually thriving, educationally, socially, in every way so, that's one good

  • thing that you know I can't pay for.

  • It's brilliant".

  • Kent is a large busy and diverse County where there are real opportunities for career progression.

  • Suzanna King moved to Kent from Yorkshire to become an Assistant Director for the East

  • of County.

  • "I was looking for a challenge and I was particularly interested in an Assistant Director Post.

  • I'd heard about the challenges that Kent was experiencing and I was very aware of the fact

  • that it's a large local authority and it's invested extremely heavily in Social Care.

  • I knew a little bit about Kent, although I've actually spent most of my life in Yorkshire

  • but I was very keen to move because it's fantastic countryside, I was very interested in all

  • the communications routes, its got good rail access, its got good motorways.

  • You can get to the content extremely easily.

  • In fact on my way to work I can see the coast line of France which is fantastic".

  • Kent's Childrens services are determined to keep improving and we are committed to becoming

  • an outstanding service which delivers the best we can for vulnerable young people.

  • "what we want is to offer a much better lot, much better opportunities for the next generation

  • of children and if we can do that by helping strengthen the potential parenting skills

  • of the children we are dealing with now that will achieve it".

  • "So this is an authority and a service that is really starting to go places, we are united,

  • we are at one, we know where we are heading.

  • What we are looking for is the right people, with the right enthusiasm to join us and be

  • part of it".
