Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles [light jazz music] Greetings, and welcome to an LGR unboxing of donations thing! This one for April of 2019. Yeah I haven't done one of these since last year, so happy new year I guess. Hope you had a good set of holidays. So yeah, let's get to unboxing what's arrived from you kind individuals over the past several months. First up is a selection of Christmas things sent to me from Gary. Kind of a drop shipment through Amazon. And they put them in these nice gift wrapped packages. Ah yes, The Micro Kids, an 80s adventure with ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64 and more. By Gary himself. I mean, it looks really cool to me, and the second one from him. Happy Coding With Sinclair BASIC. There we go, another book of his. ZX Spectrum Games Code Club. You know, I've actually never typed in any games on a spectrum at all. Mainly because of that friggin' keyboard. [laughs] Ah, I would be more inclined to if I had a maybe a 128 Plus or something, but neat looking selection of books, sir, so thank you for sending me these. All right, got one here from I'm not sure who, but it's through the Royal Mail, so somewhere in Great Britain I presume, maybe it'll say inside, let's see. Oh, [laughs], yeah I had been expecting this. So, this is a special physical version of Hypnospace Outlaw. So yeah, look at that, awesome, awesome little collectible here for what has become one of the more fascinating games of 2019 thus far. I was actually just tweeting about it the other day, showing how I was running it on a CRT, because it felt very appropriate. I mean, you know, it's a modern game, runs on Windows 10 and such, but yeah, it's based in like 90s fictitious internet. But, it's highly accurate to that time period in just look and feel and aesthetic and all that, so when they offered me this promo copy that looks really a whole lot like any number of CD-ROM software things that'd you get. You know, like AOL discs and stuff like that. That's extremely cool to me. "Year 2000 ready!" Yeah there we go, it's on a CD-R, but a nicely pressed label. So, yeah, thanks for sending this my way guys! And we've got one here from Brad in Canada. [laughs] I swear, not everything is gonna be a promo, but this one is absolutely down my alley, because yeah this is a game he put together for MS-DOS, so this is a proper DOS game called Lizard, and I've already played a little bit of it. It's VGA, it's very much emulating the style of classic NES games, though. So, it does actually look or play much like a lot of DOS platformers from back in the day. It's closer to an 8-bit NES game, but yeah still very interesting and I love the fact that he released it on a floppy disk like this, at least in some limited fashion, so thank you. Okay, got one here from Tom. Enclosed is the keychain he mentioned, it is very much up my alley, and it is from when he worked at EDS. So yeah, check this out, this is a little promotional keychain from Intel back in the day. It's a 386 CPU die and looks like the core right there, check that out. That's just really neat, happy to give it a new home. Thank you very much, sir. Got one here from Rick in Australia. Quite a new subscriber. First YouTube channel he's subscribed to on March 18th. Oh yeah, so he said he was gonna send me these Fallout 76 records that were promoted in Australia from something called Stack magazine, I suppose, and check that out. I thought that was actually really cool, because, I mean, not that I'm a fan of Fallout 76, but I'm absolutely a fan of vinyl. He sent me two, like one to open, one to keep as a collectible. Yeah, that's got Take Me Home, and then this side is just like an etching really. You can see there, it's got like a vault outline going on. I love little collectibles like this, so thank you very much for sending me these, that's awesome. [hums "Take Me Home, Country Roads"] Okay, got one here from Chris. Oh, no note, but he did include the receipt from the Goodwill he found this at for a dollar. We can bend that back into shape. So anyways, this is a game I had not heard of before, it's called Mortalus: The Quest For Immortality. The ultimate VRML action game, now that is not something I think I've ever covered before in LGR. VR and that was all. Interesting rabbit hole to dive down into, it wasn't just games, it was websites and different related stuff. It was a fascinating time of exploration. Either way, thank you for sending this my way, it's just, again, something I'd never heard of and that is awesome. Got one here from Rob. Greetings from Schaumburg. Thrifted this many moons ago and it's been sitting in a box. So yeah, strange mix right here, 'cause it says ATI Rage XL eight megabyte video card, but then it also says GeForce4 MX. Those are completely different things, different generations even [laughs]. Anyway, that is what it is, though. This is a GeForce MX400. I've actually been wanting one of these again. [laughs] I had one a very long time ago. Actually, I don't think it was this one exactly, I think I had the MX440 at one point. But, thank you very much, I will use this. Got one here from Wilcox, apparently. [laughs] Ah yes, it's from Andrew. First video he saw of mine was actually building the Lego IBM PC, and so he's got this 3D printed IBM PC that he's printed out, painted and it looks pretty awesome, I gotta say. Look, it's even got a little switch that moves. That is really cool, thank you very much. I just, I love little things like this, little computers, aw man. Okay, got one here from, huh, I don't know. Oh yeah, I do remember this being mentioned. [sniffing] Mm, that is nice smelling leather. Ah yes, Jose of JP Leathercraft. So, this is a thing that he made, and he was a fan of my videos and he just wanted to give something back. He has a leather working business. Check it out, it's a wallet with LGR green stitching, and an LGR logo debossed into it. I've never had anything like this sent to me, so thank you very much, Jose, this is super cool, nice work. Got one here from David. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I actually got a boxed version of this a while back, and it didn't have the card inside. And, you know, don't know if this one works it's a little beat up and kinda gross, of course, but this is a Goodwill find that he found and said he'd send to me, cuz yeah, I've been wanting it. Oh yeah, it's an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 megabyte, the AGP version. The card actually had, back in the day I used it to play Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 and yeah, I've just been wanting to revisit that. Definitely gonna try it out and see if I can get it working. Got one here from Germany, from Marcus. This is really cool as a Sim City Maxis collector. Sim City 3000 Deutschland. Yeah, obviously, something I'm just never gonna come across here in the US. Seems to be kind of a budget release, because the other ones like this have a more substantial box and like some documentation and stuff, this doesn't seem to have any of that, but either way unique kind of thing and yeah, just grateful to have this sent to me all the way from Germany, so thank you very much. This is extremely cool, I love collecting these worldwide releases of Sim City 3000, there's so many of them. Got one here from Ben, and this is apparently vinyl records. The note is on the box. So yeah, check it out, the cover art is based on DeskMate, also a video for Pausebreak1 on Software Records YouTube channel. I will enjoy the record, because this is a highly unique idea for one. Ben Zimmerman, The Baltika Years, and this right here is made on Tandy DeskMate. So, yeah, the operating environment, a lot of Tandy's came with. Apparently done between 1992 and 2002. Absolutely my kinda record, thank you very much. I am curious to hear what this sounds like. Got another one here from Canada, this one comes from Hal. Oh, all right. That's kind of a clue as to what this may be. Obviously this is an Atari Lynx. First time I have ever even held a Lynx. Fascinating system, I've always been intrigued by the things on here. Yeah, we offered a system and a bunch of games, like really cool ones. [laughs] Of course, I'm like yeah sure. I mean, if you're offering, I will take it, 'cause, I don't know, like I said I just have no experience with it. I've always wanted to try the original Chips's Challenge on here, which I do have a copy of. Yeah, this is really cool, obviously. Thank you very much, Hal, for the Lynx. Got another one here from somebody in Great Britain, does not say the name on the front that I can see. Ah, it's from Greg, I do remember hearing about this now from him. A pair of 1970s SP11 battery cells and some UK registered shareware disks, those are the ones that most excite me. Wow, this is unique packaging! Nice job, sir! Aha, one packing peanut. So yeah, check it out, these old batteries. Posted something about 'em on Twitter, I'm like, holy crap those look cool, and he's like, yeah don't they and I'll send 'em to you. [laughs] So, he did. I don't know, I just have a thing for old batteries. But yeah, it was all these registered APOGEE disks from the UK that really got my attention. I love collecting registered shareware, especially stuff from APOGEE, but I'd never had or even come across anything from the UK. Apparently, it was Precision Software Applications that handle distribution. So, you had Wolfenstein 3D, Commander Keen four and five, Wacky Wheels Upgrade Edition, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure episodes one, two and three, and this one which I think just sort of spawned the whole conversation about these on Twitter, is the Duke Nukum releases with the u when it was still spelled that way, actually just got the US version of this registered shareware release, and he was very kind to send these as well from the UK, so thank you very much Greg, these are really cool additions to the collection. Alrighty, got one here from Vanessa in California. Ah yes, so this is a little different. This is Shroud of the Avatar Forsaken Virtues, collector's edition, big box from Lord British and yeah this is, it looks like an old game, but it is actually not. This is from 2018. I never really heard much about it when it came out, I kinda got the impression though from her email saying that well, it's just taking up space and brings up ideas of regret or something, so anyway sent it to me and here it is. Thank you very much. It'll at least look cool on the shelf next to all my other Lord British things, you know. Ultima's and all that kinda stuff, so thank you very much. Got a package here from Nick. Math Blaster 2 in the big box, did not have this one. Looking over there at my shelf, I have Math Blaster, Math Blaster Junior, Reading Blaster, a bunch of Blaster's episodes and stuff, but not this one. Very cool, thank you very much 'cause I don't know man, I like collecting these, and this is actually one that I've never even played, which is neat 'cause I like the Math Blaster games. Got one here from Emily. Apparently, her aunt was a graphic designer for many years in Minneapolis. Found in her closet given to her husband as a gag gift and they're like ah, LGR! [laughs] Oh, that cracks me up. People are sending me their unwanted gag gifts. Honestly though, I mean, you're spot on. This is absolutely the kind of gift that I would want. [laughs] This is a wireless mouse by Truemouse, the TW-500. Yeah, infrared wireless mouse, this cannot work very well. It's still sealed, which is really cool. Don't know when it was made, I don't actually see a date on here. Judging by the screenshots and photos and all the packaging stuff, it looks like maybe late 80s. [laughs] Thank you for passing along your gag gift, everyone involved in this story. Think I might cover this at some point, seems like Oddware. All right, got one here from Lenovo. They reached out on Twitter and they're like hey we're fans of LGR, Lenovo. I don't know, we'll send you some something in a box if you want it and I'm like sure. What? Uh... What the heck? Seems like Lenovo wants to be my Valentine. Yeah, they did get in touch around Valentine's Day, so sure. Is that a power supply? What did they send? [laughs] So there's some Lenovo socks, I guess. They have a whole bunch of different social media icons on them. Okay, I like these. These are some ThinkPad 25th anniversary socks. Toe socks [laughs]. Yeah, see this is what I thought they were gonna send, which I guess they did. Yeah, look at that. That is a ThinkPad t-shirt. Big fan, the classic IBM ThinkPads and of course Lenovo does the ThinkPads now, so. Yeah, that's neat. It's a shame it doesn't say IBM, but you know they're not IBM. Huh. Yeah, I'm not familiar with all these new fangled devices, that's a neat looking design for a mouse. It's a Yoga mouse. It's like a Legion backpack. I like the box. Ooh, good grief. That's really neat. I don't even know what it is. All right, so this is a ThinkPad X1. Apparently it has a Core i7 8th gen processor in there and I've literally never seen one of these before, this is the first time I've even heard this thing exists, but it looks neat, obviously. Holy nuts. Well see, okay, so here's the thing. Thank you very much Lenovo, I truly didn't know that they were sending this, I seriously thought it was just socks and a t-shirt. They definitely didn't send any stipulations, like I said I didn't even know that this was... It's been sitting here for a couple months. Man, we've still got more packages. Just two more, I think these are not from companies. This one is from Christian. Ya mighta heard of this. In fact, I've had a ton of people tell me about it. This is from Perifractic on YouTube. He's had this thing going for a while, he's tryna get the Brixty Four case done as an official Lego kit. Congratulations on a billion subscribers or was it 10 billion? It was just one million but thank you very much, sir. Anyway, he's got a really cool channel, and this is a really cool project. Oh, good grief, that's a lot of pieces. [rattling] Yeah, this is a Commodore 64 case effectively with actual Lego pieces and you can put a C64 motherboard inside. You know, this is a little bit of a different thing for me, looking forward to it. And again, check out Perifractic's channel he's done some really cool stuff. Okay, I think this is the last one, from Gabriel. Who is a buddy of mine, he has a computer shop over in Raleigh, North Carolina. Really cool shop and he gets some cool stuff in, he's sent some before. So yeah, it's from a customer of his who was a self-described "hacker" and programmer and all-around nerd back in the 70s. They brought in this Heathkit terminal, SWTPC 6800 v2. It's some really cool stuff, but also these things, all of which I have been looking for. [laughs] Oh yeah, this is awesome. So first up here we have The Black Cauldron, a Sierra game here by Al Lowe of all people, but yeah, Sierra's version of Disney's Black Cauldron computer game in much better shape than the one I had. And here's one I didn't have at all. This is Dark Castle, the IBM PC/Tandy CGA EGA version, yeah the Mac version is probably the one that's most known by folks probably. And we've got some Infocom games here. Wonderful condition copy here of Leather Goddesses of Phobos. 3D comic, 3D glasses, maps and disks, and there it is, scratch and sniff, mhmm. [scratching] [sniffing] [laughs] It just smells like old paper, but anyway. And a copy here of Wishbringer, another Infocom text adventure. I don't think I had this one at all, and again seems to be complete or at least, I don't know, whatever. I'm just happy to have it [laughs]. And a copy of Zork one, which I mean talk about your absolute classics. I'm hoping that combined with the incomplete one that I have this will fill in the gaps and it's all about those feelies. Anyway yeah, awesome, awesome games to have in a box so thank you very much to Gabriel and also Chuck and Betty who originally owned these back in the day, very cool. Well, here we go once again with another bunch of awesomeness just piled up on my table. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your generosity and invitations of things that you want to send, I don't why I said invitations, you know, offerings. [laughs] Like I'm a church. Uh, no, I just appreciate all the support, no matter what form it takes. Even just the thought seriously counts to me. Speaking of what counts, I'm definitely giving away that laptop to somebody I know that really needs a laptop upgrade. I just know that I'm never gonna use it, I wasn't expecting it anyway. But yeah, all this other stuff I'm gonna be keeping and putting in the collection. Hopefully, covering in the future. So, I hope you stay tuned, and heck I hope I actually get around to covering this stuff. It keeps piling up, even if I only do one of these videos every three or four months, it's still too much for me to get around to reviewing all of it, so [groaning] my apologies in advance and stuff! But anyway, I hope you enjoyed this, and as always thank you very much for watching.
