  • - I'm gonna have permanent Beyonce wind

  • on the Brooklyn Bridge.

  • I love you, New York.

  • - [Bypasser] You're a queen.

  • [laughter]

  • [inspiring music]

  • - We're in New York.

  • It's a beautiful morning.

  • It snowed last night, and we're about to get some hot tea

  • because I don't drink coffee and tea is more than enough

  • caffeine for me.

  • Thank you so much.

  • Now about to go walk the Brooklyn Bridge.

  • I have never done that before, and I am so excited,

  • so let's go.

  • [upbeat music]

  • This one looks like it matches.

  • Sir, I've got it, no, I didn't.

  • I just pull it?

  • Oh, yeah.

  • Does it match?

  • I think I'll take one of these, sir.

  • [upbeat music]

  • Hello.

  • She's my favorite of all time.

  • Hi, fluffy.

  • I'm talking to my sister and her baby,

  • who's her fluffy baby Joey, and they're in L.A. right now.

  • I love you, Joey.

  • Okay, love you, have a good day at work, muah.

  • Bye.

  • It's so pretty.

  • [upbeat music]

  • They're gonna dance.

  • Whoa.

  • 40 seconds to show time.

  • - Ladies and gentlemen, if you're ready for a great show,

  • everybody say, "Yeah."

  • - [Audience] Yeah.

  • - It's show time, ladies and gentlemen, let's go.

  • - New York City, you got a special guest.

  • Make some noise for Sofia.

  • [applause]

  • That's right, this show's gonna be for you.

  • [hip hop music]

  • [cheers]

  • And now it is time to ice skate.

  • [soothing music]

  • Welcome, let's do this.

  • I am ready to ice skate.

  • - All right, let's do this.

  • We'll get you set up with some skates.

  • What size shoe do you wear?

  • - Size 8. - Size 8?

  • Give me two seconds. - Thank you.

  • - There we are.

  • - Thank you so much.

  • Pray for me cause I might fall.

  • [laughter]

  • First time I ice skated,

  • actually, it was in New York.

  • It was in Rockefeller Center, and I think it was

  • the very first time that I ever came to New York City.

  • I was 12 years old with my sister, my mom, and my dad,

  • and it was just the most magical day ever.

  • I will never forget that.

  • Right now I live with my sister in Los Angeles,

  • so I never really get to see snow.

  • I've just been like a little kid running around.

  • Every time it snows, I just run out and feel it on my skin.

  • This is so cool.

  • [upbeat music]

  • Ah, it's happening.

  • I've been dancing my whole life for, my gosh, 22 years,

  • and ice skating I think is very similar to dancing.

  • You just incorporate the element of ice,

  • but I guess it does involve core, flexibility.

  • I turned.

  • I really feel like saying,

  • do you remember that quote in "The Notebook" that says,

  • "If you're a bird, I'm a bird."?

  • Except I'm alone on the ice skating rink

  • so it's not as romantic.

  • [laughter]

  • My dream ice skating outfit would be

  • probably one of Beyonce's performance outfits,

  • but on the ice skating rink.

  • [laughter]

  • I think I have to go get ready for tonight.

  • Wanna come with me?

  • Let's go.

  • [ice skates scrape]

  • So cute.

  • That's a technique to stop.

  • [upbeat music]

  • We are back,

  • we are getting ready for the UNICEF Ball tonight,

  • and I am here with my amazing, amazing team.

  • Incredible makeup artist, Klau, who I adore,

  • and the amazing Mr. Kale Noble,

  • and I'm so lucky.

  • It really takes a team to put everything together,

  • and it's also not only talented artists,

  • but such amazing people, so I'm really lucky.

  • I wanted to go into tonight feeling very elegant

  • and really giving the evening the respect that it deserves.

  • It's such an important and such a beautiful cause

  • that we're all united for this evening.

  • It really is for UNICEF's incredible work.

  • My mom and my grandma to me are the most elegant,

  • timeless women I know.

  • I remember a few years ago when we would dream

  • about one day, if we were lucky enough

  • to bear Jean Bastia Valle couture gown on a red carpet

  • because I really do think he does such a beautiful way

  • of celebrating femininity and what it means to be a woman

  • and empowers you in that way whenever you wear his dresses,

  • so that's always been what I gravitate towards.

  • I don't remember a time in my life when I didn't know

  • that this is who I was.

  • That I was meant to do this if I was lucky enough

  • to be able to do this for a living.

  • And when I was about 11 or 12,

  • we always grew up seeing my mom and my grandma

  • being so philanthropic and so giving

  • and really instilled in my sister and me

  • this duty that we have as humans to give back

  • as much as we can,

  • and I was 12 and my mom took us to a home in Columbia

  • that fostered really, really young teenage girls

  • who had babies.

  • And we met an 11 year old girl named Maria

  • who had just given birth.

  • And I think that really, really marked a time in my life

  • for me and my sister when we realized that

  • when we grow up, we have to dedicate our lives to giving

  • as much as we can.

  • And today, I am hosting

  • the 15th annual UNICEF Snowflake Ball in New York City,

  • which is such an immense honor.

  • The night tonight is not only to celebrate

  • the incredible work that UNICEF does,

  • but also to fundraise, and all the funds 100% go

  • to the protection of children in every corner of the world,

  • so it's, I say it a lot, but it really is

  • the most important thing that we can do.

  • Even if you start small, locally,

  • everything makes a difference, but I think it all

  • comes down to really using your voice.

  • I probably shouldn't be talking,

  • but I was listening to a playlist that I always listen to

  • on Apple Music, and right after "Watermelon Sugar"

  • was my song "Grey Area".

  • I was like, "This is so cool."

  • Okay, guys, my hair and makeup is done.

  • I am here with Nicholas who is my stylist,

  • and we are picking out jewelry,

  • and we have a gorgeous selection.

  • We're in between either bold earring or bold necklace,

  • but we're gonna make a game-time decision.

  • We're gonna put the dress on. - Yep.

  • And then we'll decide, and then we'll show you guys.

  • [blows kiss]

  • Okay, guys, here's the final look.

  • Jean Batista haute couture,

  • and as you saw, we went with all the jewelry.

  • [laughter]

  • Okay, we are ready, and we're heading out to go to the ball.

  • Oh my gosh, that felt like a princess quote.

  • We are going to the ball.

  • - [Producer] Are you taking the coat?

  • - I am taking the coat.

  • I am taking the coat.

  • The coat is coming with me.

  • And now we go.

  • [inspiring music]

  • Thank you, have a good night.

  • - You too, have a good night.

  • - Okay, and we are off.

  • We are officially on our way to the UNICEF Ball.

  • Our first stop is rehearsals.

  • We have a full show run-through.

  • I'll be running through my script,

  • and then I walk the carpet, Priyanka walks the carpet,

  • and then I have a meet and greet

  • with the president of UNICEF,

  • and then we go backstage, and then the show starts at 7:30.

  • The gala starts at 7:30, should I say.

  • Gala, gala, the endless question.

  • Let's go with gala for tonight.

  • [inspiring music]

  • Okay, guys, we have arrived at the UNICEF Ball.

  • Thank you so much for spending the day with me.

  • It's been magical.

  • [blows kiss]

  • I'll see you guys next time.

  • Thank you.

  • [inspiring music]

  • [cameras clicking]

  • - [Woman] Sofia.

  • [camera clicking]

  • - Thank you, UNICEF, from the very bottom of my heart,

  • and thank you to every single person in this room

  • for joining us tonight.

  • [inspiring music]

- I'm gonna have permanent Beyonce wind
