  • Hello lords and ladies!

  • Happy International Men's Day here on Cartoon Hangout. A few weeks ago I remembered that

  • IMD was a thing and decided that I wanted to do something special on this day on my

  • channel. If you don't know what International Men's Day is, it's a day that focuses on the

  • issues that men and young boys face such as health, gender relations, gender equality,

  • etc. And yes, men do have issues. All humans do in some capacity.

  • Tonight we'll be highlighting the top 5 male cartoon characters. To fall onto this list,

  • these characters must be excellent role models for both men and boys, so the Joker is definitely

  • not making this list.

  • #5

  • Batman.

  • Ok, so maybe taking in young boys and training them to fight crime isn't exactly role model

  • material, but let's just assume that's why he's in the #5 spot and not higher. The reason

  • Batman is such a huge symbol is because he has no powers. He doesn't have heat vision,

  • he can't wall-crawl, he can't summon lightning, and he can't fly. Instead he's a man who used

  • the anger he felt over his parents' passing and channeled it into something great. He

  • worked hard mastering as many fighting styles as he could and he became the world's greatest

  • detective. You might not be able to be exactly like Batman, but this character shows that

  • we can do anything we set our minds to if we just dedicate ourselves. If you want to

  • be an engineer or a writer or a musician, you can!

  • Work hard every day and make your dreams come true.

  • #4

  • Dipper.

  • Dipper is probably extremely relatable to many of us. He's just that nerdy kid trying

  • to get the girl who is way out of his league. But I think it's commendable that he kept

  • trying and when he got shut down eventually, he took it pretty well. Sure, it's shown later

  • he still has a crush on her, but I think he'll be fine. Despite being such a young age, Dipper

  • has courage in spades. He never backs down from a challenge and has spent a large amount

  • of time trying to figure out the mysteries of Gravity Falls. With such strength, morals,

  • and courage, I've no doubt Dipper will grow up to be a great man.

  • #3

  • Ben Tennyson.

  • Was there any doubt he'd make it onto this list?

  • Ben started out as this really arrogant little kid who gained an extraordinary watch that

  • gave him the ability to morph into ten crazy alien species. After countless adventures

  • and saving the world multiple times, he grew up and matured. And although he did eventually

  • let the fame get to him again, he time and time again proves why he is worthy to wield

  • the Omnitrix. This character more than the other two is a huge role model. While I certainly

  • wasn't ten when I saw Ben 10 for the first time, I was young. As I grew, so did Ben and

  • I think kids looked up to him because they could identify.

  • #2

  • Ron Stoppable

  • Ron is not your typical male hero character. He's not brave and he's not strong, but he

  • always sticks by Kim's side providing well-timed (and sometimes not so well-timed) comical

  • relief. Ron falls on this list for not only subverting an audience's expectation about

  • what a male action hero should be, but also for facing his fears even though he's scared

  • out of his mind.

  • #1

  • Phineas

  • Phineas is probably the ultimate male role model for kids (and yes, even adults). Have

  • you ever met such an optimistic and intelligent young boy?

  • He doesn't just lounge on his butt all day wondering what he should do. He gets up and

  • he challenges the laws of physics in order to make the most out of every day of summer!

  • And that's why Phineas is my number 1 male cartoon character.

  • And that's my list. Do you agree with it or do you have your own top 5?

  • Let me know if you do in the comments below and I hope you enjoyed the video. I spent

  • almost half the day on this video and it drove me mad a couple of times trying to find just

  • the right clips and the best words to sum up how I feel about these five characters.

  • Hopefully the video turned out great. If you want to know more about International Men's

  • Day or where you can donate, I'll include a link in the description for you.

  • Thanks for watching and take care.
