The Disney theme parks are constantly changing and evolving and 2019 is a big year for Walt
Disney World.
Although we’re only into the fourth month of the year, there’s been a lot of new things
added to the parks.
Whether its an attraction, a show, parade or a character meet and greet each of the
four Walt Disney World theme parks already have something new to offer in 2019.
There are quite a few changes and additions worth updating you on, so today we’re gonna
be counting down the Top 10 NEW Attractions & Experiences at Walt Disney World in 2019!
Number 10 Starting the list off at Disney’s Animal
Kingdom, Kevin from Disney Pixar’s Up has migrated to the Florida sun!
Standing at around 14 feet tall, Kevin is a new character that hadn’t been seen at
Walt Disney World until she made her debut in February.
When Kevin is in the park you won’t miss her as she roams freely around Discovery Island
and interacts with guests.
Since she just roams and doesn’t have a specific meeting location, this isn’t a
character meet and greet and is more along the lines of atmospheric entertainment- but
you may get a chance to snap a picture before she bolts off to her next destination.
Kevin is a welcome addition to the entertainment line up at Animal Kingdom so be sure to check
the Entertainment schedule for when you can spot this colourful exotic bird.
Number 9 Over in Animation courtyard at Disney’s
Hollywood Studios you’ll find The Disney Junior Dance Party.
{Singing} Mickey and the Roadster Racers!
Although this new show didn’t open in 2019 it did debut at the end of 2018 on December
22 and replaced Disney Junior Live on Stage.
In this high energy show, get ready to join DJ Deejay and Finn Fiesta as they bring your
favourite Disney Junior characters right on stage.
You’ll get the chance to see Vampirina, Doc McStuffins, Timon and Mickey Mouse while
you sing and dance along to many familiar songs in this energetic performance.
The Disney Junior Dance party is packed with tons of interactive elements and if you’re
traveling to the parks with little ones, this is definitely a must do.
They’ll be entertained for the entire 25 minute show.
Number 8 Next we’ll head over to the Mexico Pavilion
in World Showcase at Epcot.
Mariachi Cobre has been performing since 1982 but on March 6, Mariachi Cobre began presenting
the Story of Coco in this brand new show.
When it comes to IPs being placed into World Showcase, Coco is one of those films that
fits like a glove into Mexico so more of Coco is always welcome in the Pavilion.
The Maricahi Cobre musicians along with two traditional Mexican folk dancers share this
touching story through a series of familiar songs….
No music—well there’s actually quite a bit of heartwarming music!
{Singing} Well this music is my language and the world is mi familia.
Well this music is my language and the world is mi familia.
These performers are incredibly talented blending their voices to create the perfect harmony
and the entire performance truly acts as a celebration of Coco.
{Singing} Remember me.
The show concludes with an appearance from…
{Off screen} Miguelitto!
What a surprise!
This hand crafted Miguel puppet originally made its debut at Disney California Adventure
in 2018 and its great seeing him make his way over to Walt Disney World.
The show debuted for the Epcot Flower and Garden festival which runs until June 3rd
so if you’re a fan of Coco you defineltly don’t wanna miss this performance!
{Singing} And the world is mi familia!
Number 7 Over at Magic Kingdom they kicked off Mickey
and Minnie’s surprise celebration in January and the festivities continue until September
30th.
In the town square theatre you can meet mickey and Minnie both dressed in their 90th birthday
outfits.
Previously just Magician Mickey used to meet in this location and Minnie used to be over
at Pete’s Silly Sideshow in Fantasyland.
Pluto has now replaced Minnie at Pete’s Silly Sideshow and over in Town Square where
Pluto, Chip and Dale used to meet Disney has introduced the long lost friends surprise
meet and greets.
Each day a different pair of characters meet by the flagpole in town square then at around
3 to 4 pm the characters roam for the remainder of the afternoon.
Pairs of characters you can find include Nick & Judy from Zootopia, Gideon and Foulfellow
from Pinnochio, Prince John and Friar Tuck from Robnin Hood plus many more.
This is a great opportunity to meet some rare characters that you normally don’t get to
see around the parks.
Number 6 Staying on the topic of character Meet and
Greets we’re gonna head on over to Walt Disney presents at Hollywood Studios where
its home to the new Monster’s Inc Experience.
Inside you’re able to meet Mike & Sully and they replaced the Star Lord and Groot
meet and greet which ended in September of 2018.
Mike and Sully used to be longtime characters you could meet at Hollywood Studios but they
got the boot in 2015 to make way for Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land.
The monsters made their big return in January and they’ve been an extremely popular meet
and greet pulling waits between 30 minutes to an hour.
If you wanna meet Mike and Sully your best bet is to head here later in the day to avoid
some of the crowds.
Number 5 Another brand new meet and greet experience
can be found at Imageworks in the Imagination Pavilion at Epcot.
Part of the interactive experience in Imageworks was replaced by a sleek meet and greet with
Ralph and Venelope from Ralph Breaks the internet.
Disney says the story here is that the Imagination Institute has created a portal into new dimensions
which includes opening a portal to the internet for Ralph and Venelope.
The characters meet guests all day long but the highlight of this experience is when Ralph
and Venelope travel through the Link.
This tunnel also acts as a little reminder of the now extinct neon tunnel that used to
be upstairs in the old Imageworks area.
The Link definitely adds a fun new twist to your classic meet and greet experience!
Number 4 Back over in Discovery Island at Animal Kingdom
you can find the Hukuna Matatta Time Dance party which helps celebrate the 25th Anniversary
of the Lion King!
{Host} Hukuna!
Matatta!
What does it mean?
No worries!
This new high energy experience features live music, dance and games that are sure to keep
you and your family entertained!
There’s two different sets for the dance party- one that features a DJ and the other
features a live band playing some very familiar tunes- I do reccomed checking out the band,
these are some really talented musicians.
Now sure, this is a Lion King dance party so naturally Timon and Rafiki can be found
grooving to the beat but they’ve also invited some of their other animal friends to the
celebration.
Ballo from the Jungle Book, Terk from Tarzan, Meeko from Pocahuntus and Koda from Brother
Bear can all be found at staggered times at the party.
The Hukuna Matta Time Dance party is set to run through the end of September so be sure
to check the entertainment schedule for exact times!
Number 3 In January at Disney’s Hollywood Studios,
Pixar Place was reopened and transformed into Municiberg for an Incredible Celebration!
This area had been closed since early July of 2018 so its great seeing Pixar Place become
guest accessible once again.
Although there are no rides in Municiberg, there are a few attraction experiences offered.
The first is the Jack Jack scavenger hunt.
Clues have been hidden all around the area and Jack Jack shows up a few times so definitely
keep your eyes peeled for him.
Next is the Edna Mode experience.
Inside you’ll find Edna Mode’s super suit gallery where she has some of her marvellous
creations on display and then you get to meet Edna Mode herself!
Lastly, at the back of Municierg, there’s the Super Shindig Dance party with Elastigirl,
Mr Incredible and Frozone.
The party is hosted by two news anchors and it definitely adds a unique spin to the experience.
{Linda} Breaking news right before the big song!
Ron, take it away!
{Ron} I’m gonna have to agree with that and say you are super!
It’s really a show with scripted segments and interactive elements.
{Linda} Whats happening here Lauren?
Could you help us out please??
{Mr. Incredible} Certainly!
Municberg is set to run until September 30th and we have an entire video about the land
on the channel!
Number 2 Over at Magic Kingdom the festivities continue
for Mickey and Minnie’s Surprise Celebration with the Move it Shake It Mousekedancit Street
party.
This new parade debuted in January and replaced the move it shake it dance and play it street
party.
Mickey and Minnie dressed in their 90th birthday outfits are the stars of the party alongside
two live vocalists and many familiar friends as they make their up main street and into
the hub.
{Music} M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E..
Come on everybody get your ears on!
This parade turned street party is full of tons of energy and interactive elements that
will keep the family dancing on their feet the entire!
{Singing} Celebrate and party with the rest.
Everybody its a good time.
There’s generally three performances per day so be sure to check the entertainment
schedule so you don’t miss Move it Shake it Mouseketadnce it!
{Music} A good time!
Number 1 Next we’re gonna step into the World of
Cars at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Lightning McQueen’s Racing academy.
This is the newest attraction to open at Walt Disney World and once you’re in the Sunset
Showcase theatre, you’ll get to join Lightning McQueen and experience what it takes to become
a champion racer.
{Lightning McQueen} Yeaa!
Now that’s what i’m talking about!
Here we go rookies!
As you experience Lightning McQueen on the simulator his friends, like Mater and Cruz
Ramirez stop by to help out.
The best part of the attraction is definitely the impressive Lightning McQueen animatronic.
I mean look at how fluid he is!
{Lightning McQueen} Thanks for coming out today!
Consider yourself honorary members of my lighting McQueen racing team.
Now go out there and get your tires dirty.
Ka-CHOW!
The attraction runs continuously throughout the day and we have a video of the full show
on the channel.
Now once you’re in the Sunset Showcase courtyard, the Cars fun continues here where you’ll
get a chance to meet Cruz Ramierez or join DJ for the Ready Set Party Time dance party!
Lightning McQueens racing academy really helps round out the family attractions at Hollywood
Studios and is most definitely a welcome addition to the park.
Now all of these new additions are just the start and there’s more attractions and entertainment
coming as we get further into 2019!
Like Star War’s Galaxy’s Edge which will open Phase One on August 29th at Hollywood
Studios, Epcot Forever, the new short term firework show replacing Illuminations will
open on October 1st and Disney’s Skyliner is set to open in the fall.
So with all the new additions that have debuted so far, whats is your favorite to appear at
the Walt Disney World resort?
