  • My name is KJ and I play Griffin in The Last Summer.

  • And Archie Andrews in Riverdale.

  • And I’m Maia Mitchel and I play Phoebe in The Last Summer.

  • Today were gonna teach you some guitar basics.

  • Let me explain some of the parts of the guitar.

  • You have six strings, usually.

  • Some have twelve. But this one, and her one, have six.

  • First string is an E.

  • Second string's an A.

  • Next one's a D.

  • Next one's a G.

  • And the next one's a B. I think. It's a B.

  • The last one is a E.

  • Together...

  • There are some saying that you can use to help, you know memorize those strings, but

  • really it's just six strings, so let's just try and-

  • But do you have a saying?

  • I don't have any saying. I just memorized it.

  • Now that we know what each of the strings are, we can start with warm up exercises

  • with KJ.

  • Usually for me when I'm warming up it's good to I guess go through some scales.

  • We have a Minor Pentatonic scale.

  • That's a minor Pentatonic.

  • And you can also play that like this.

  • And weren't you gonna play us a song?

  • Yes, we're gonna learn "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star".

  • Ok.

  • We're gonna figure it out.

  • Ok, let's figure that out.

  • Play the G.

  • Ok!

  • Do you think you can suss the cords out?

  • Maybe.

  • Ok.

  • One, two, three, four!

  • Pretty good for a first go!

  • Pretty good for a first go. Pretty good!

  • It got a little rock n' roll, though.

  • It was pretty, the-

  • Yeah!

  • I started playing guitar when I was like twelve, thirteen.

  • And throughout high school, that was kind of what I did.

  • I was, you know, in music class and performing.

  • Music is important to me, because it's kind of how I first started to express myself artistically.

  • I was a dancer.

  • I loved singing, I loved performing.

  • That was a huge part of my life growing up.

  • I've been playing since I was about eleven.

  • I started for the first three years on YouTube.

  • It's pretty easy to just like, jump online and search stuff up.

  • And just like listening to stuff I guess.

  • And then I, when I started taking it more seriously I started taking lessons.

  • The first song I learned how to play, I think it was...

  • It was, I think it was "Sweet Home Alabama"!

  • Yeah.

  • That's the song that actually inspired me to play the guitar, I heard my friend's, my

  • friend's brother was playing it.

  • And I was like, I wanna do that! I wanna be able to do that.

  • And then I started learning.

  • Ok guys, thanks for hanging out with us for some music lessons.

  • Yes and let us know in the comments what other instruments and songs you would want to learn.

  • Goodbye for now.

  • But not forever.
