Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Atlanta lawyer Stacey Abrams has a chance to become the first African American female governor in U. S history. Abrams won the Democratic primary in Georgia, one of four states toe hold primary elections yesterday. Abrams, a former state General Assembly leader, easily beat another woman, Stacy Evans. Abrams says the way to win the general election is to attract young and non white voters who haven't been casting ballots. She'll face either Lieutenant Governor Casey Kagel or State Secretary of State Brian Kemp in the general election. They'll meet in a runoff in July. Well, Texas Democrats chose former Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez to run for governor. She's the first openly gay and first Latina nominee for governor, also in Texas, three House run offs that could determine whether Democrats can take control of the House. In November, women were nominated in two districts and a black man in the third.
