  • If you find yourself free at eight, I'll be Beach Oceanside here.

  • You know, it's a phone by date.

  • What?

  • No, that's not a really, because you literally just asked me out.

  • Just right over here.

  • We'll see.

  • Katie, this is your first time playing a real life person, and you gotta add to your singing skills to it.

  • So what was it like meeting Jeremy and then bringing his story to screen?

  • Well, that happened in the same day, which was crazy.

  • So I showed up to see it and shot a scene and then admit him in the same day behind the monitors and stuff.

  • Um, and it was one of those feelings of just complete, like peace and like, acceptance of like, Well, this is I'm exactly where I need to be right now in my life, playing this character and being with Jeremy, I felt like we met each other, and I think he can Sick in this, too, is like we already had so much in common with each other.

  • And we were so similar already.

  • And we felt like we'd known each other for years before we actually met.

  • So yeah, I felt like everything.

  • What and everything was just like, felt right?

  • And I love that Melissa journals and that we had those to work off of, and especially the theme of the Galaxy and the stars and this idea that, you know, God paints a trillion stars and he knows my name.

  • Brightest stars are the ones that die of the soonest speak.

  • So for you kind of exploring that theme and just her overall attitude and approach to life, well, I think that's a big part of why I wanted to play that character.

  • It's such a a beautiful thing.

  • T know that there is a person who existed in this world who had such an understanding of of just the greater world around her.

  • And, you know, I know for myself I can often just get so like, lost in just the minutia of it all and convey so self centered.

  • And Melissa was someone who was never thinking about herself.

  • She was always putting it into perspective, and she was always trying to find a wayto to bring other people into into her life in a positive way and and speak positively into the world.

  • And I think that that's such a precious quality person.

  • Yeah, I think that's why we fall in love with Melissa.

  • That's why Jeremy fell in love with most into one of the qualities.

  • And I think she impacted everyone who knew she had some kind of impact on.

  • I feel like that was just a kind of person.

  • Melissa.

  • My favorite scene in the film is Jeremy's tough conversations with his dad, right when when he's asking questions that they might not be a specific Thio each of us but we all have questions where, you know, we've prayed so hard for something and it didn't come out with really wanted it to you.

  • But God still works that for it's good.

  • I mean, I think that's one of the listens that we get from this film is to reconcile and understand that no old prison will be answered the way that we want them to.

  • You know, um and I guess it.

  • We need Thio.

  • We learn, Like, how do we deal with that?

  • Do we, um, get angry at God?

  • And Delgado?

  • Do we keep keep trusting God in deep in our faith?

  • You know, both of you have worked together before, So you at least have some level of chemistry there.

  • But then written on the page was so well done.

  • Talk to me about what it was like kind of the dance that we need to see between your two characters.

  • It's obviously like at the core of the film is this relationship between Jeremy Melissa.

  • So it was really important that we feel comfortable with, you know, with the dialogue with the characters that were playing that based on these real people.

  • But for me, the biggest thing was just trusting in each other and knowing that, like, we have a partner in this and like, Okay, you know, that's what it came down to.

  • Yeah.

  • We're just gonna, like, figure this out, You and me today.

  • And I think that that worked for the film to its benefit.

  • You know, way took every day as it came.

  • You know, I think I think that really helped us.

  • Yeah, And so did.

  • And he sort of directors and stuff after we got every day in the bank way would stop thinking about the next day.

  • Yeah, that's what we would think about.

  • It would finish that then.

  • Yeah, it is.
