Just two cents here.

And I figured we would end this year like we end every other year with a recap video of the year that we just finished.

That being the year of 2 2019 has been into the year of 2020.

But rather than talk about you know, my favorite moments that have happened on the channel throughout the year, I'm gonna kind of narrow this one down to the custom builds we did in the the year in the year in the 20 Year of 19.

No, it's Phil and I were kind of going through the previous videos that we launched in 2019 and we were tryingto re educate ourselves on what builds we did because we kind of forget about them.

As we move along, we realized the first half of the year only included one custom build.

Now, this video is gonna be about the custom builds not the basic builds with guides that we do these air about the ones or specific themed builds either that we gave away or for a project or a sponsor or whatever.

So the first build of the year actually happened right at the start of the year, right after CS.

And it was the conclusion of a project that I had started the end of 2018 which was an update of my workstation build dubbed Goldfinger or Goldmember or Gold.

Something gold digger.

That was it right there.

Ther e was actually pretty interesting build.

It was the first time I had tried to do anything like sort of custom ish, although there wasn't really anything custom done to the case.

Other than painting, which I did a terrible job with, We were trying to get that gold sort of a look.

But the problem is, when you use aerosol cans or any sort of spray paint without actually plating anything, it's hard to make it look like gold.

At the end of the day, it looks like Rachael before gold has been manufactured machine and polished.

It kind of like roll raw gold nuggets, if you will.

That's actually the system I'm still using today.

It's been sort of hacked and mutilated in some parts taken out and swap since then, which is why, as we go into 2020 I'm gonna be building myself a new work station based on Red River that we've already talked about that that was the first bill that we actually completed on the channel in 2019.

One of the most meaningful bills we got to do in 2019 was actually for Make a Wish, Make a Wish, should reach out to us and said that case, who was unfortunately, had to deal with Hodgkin's lymphoma and wanted nothing more than to be in one of our videos and build a computer with me.

It was a huge honor because make a wish goes out of their way to make sure that whatever the wishes when they choose a child can come true and considering the fact that there are so many other, more worthy things to wish for them to be on our channel.

I was obviously humbled and honored to be a part of that project.

So technically, it doesn't count as a build that I did because the whole point was to allow him to build it on our channel.

But the most rewarding an awesome thing about meeting case was the fact that he was just a cz witty justus, dry and Justus, sarcastic as I am, which meant he fits in perfectly around here.

We've done something secure computer building channel.

Now, this one is not actually a computer, but I'm going to include it Anyway, We built this set and this studio that we're currently doing this video in right now.

It was the first time I'd undertaken any sort of a project of this level and doing it entirely myself, obviously with the help of Phil, but not bringing in any contractors, figuring out how is gonna build the walls and do the lighting and do the electrical and all that sort of stuff and did it 100% myself and still meets OSHA and code and all that sort of stuff, so I don't get in trouble.

Leslie wanna do is build a studio and then get in trouble for it.

In fact, it's still only half done that half of the studio still has absolutely nothing happening over there.

But the studio has allowed us to do some things that we've never been able to do in the past, and that was to create a multi threaded workflow when it comes to be able to make videos.

For instance, I'm in this set making this video while the other set is being used for a different video, which is the first time in the history of me having my YouTube channel I've been able to do that.

The updates of Over the channel have gone from bedroom to garage, back, two bedroom, two studio ish thing.

We made work into a warehouse now that we turned in to a studio, and that's allowed us to do some pretty custom stuff into pretty amazing stuff.

When it comes to builds, the problems in the past is builds have always been extremely strangled in terms of workflow and space to where I couldn't really explode an area to do these builds that take days or weeks at a time and still get my other work done.

But that all changed with the new studio, and one of the very first builds that we did by moving into the studio was the Dark Knight build.

But this was the first time we actually did a sanction build that was actually we were commissioned.

Do with a M D and Corsair was fully sponsored so that we could show off some of the new stuff coming out.

It was his end to architecture based on third or third Gen Risin based on sent to architecture.

That's like everyone started count like Microsoft Estates.

But I digress.

But it was also Corsairs Forte into open loop parts.

It was their custom fitting, so awesome Reservoir blocks 5700 x t.

And so it was a It was the first time we'd used all new stuff with ah sponsored bill that allowed us to kind of go ham on this.

It was also the first time I finally admitted that everyone telling me that I should do painted tubes and I used to tell everyone that that was a bad idea.

Painted Tubes would look terrible, had to completely eat my words because the two being turned out phenomenal.

Unfortunately, that build with sort of rock with the fact that we were given a pre production board that ended up working on me whenever you to the BIOS.

And it's still sitting over there right now, completely nonfunctional, because I haven't had time to swap out the motherboard.

But it is a bill that I kept together I'm extremely proud of because it was a no.

RGB has rgb, but there's no RGB glowing in it.

It's all just white.

It's fully illuminated by the Corsair light blue fans, and it turned out amazing with it being a completely blacked out build.

Hence why we called it dark night.

But then, after Dark Knight was done, we went ahead and changed gears and went back to a small form factor build, utilizing a 99 100 K and a 2080 Super graphics card.

And of course I'm talking about the shift build that I surprised fill with the one that he was helping me shoot the entire time and I kept getting his input on the building how he would do it.

He didn't even put two and two together until I shocked him with the fact that the build was actually a surprise for him.

Yeah, that one.

There are years excited as I am about this build.

I am.

Actually, we went this build from the moment it was considered.

Was for you did Brian and I've been planning this for weeks.

It was supposed to be for your birthday, but we did get the parts in time.

Which is why we went and got the other ones that were waiting for you.

So what's This is amazing.

No, I didn't name the build because the build wasn't for me.

And if you haven't noticed, my my computer builds always have a name because it's easier to reference Dark night dread ripper.

Well, I mean, that's not really that original.

It was the first Red River build we did, but Skunk works and ask Phil.

What did he name his system?

He said, Sasha, I assume it's probably because the case is great, but we're gonna go ahead, move on to the next built after that, which was another small form factor build, but one that I really was excited about because it was the first time I got to use my shop in the manner in which I had always envisioned it being used.

And that was for a full fledged full on case, Ma.

Of course, I am talking about Mark's destiny to build.

The destiny to theme PC was built for a friend of ours by the name of Mark, who works with special ed and needy Children.

And so he has a very hard job, and I wanted to reward him with something that he was not gonna be able to afford for himself anytime soon.

He was a newlywed.

And given the fact that it's just that is a very hard and thankless job, I wanted to show thanks to him because it's something that my father used to do.

He was a teacher's aide working in a special ed class after he retired and the stories he told I'm telling you right now, those are saints who could do that job day in and day out, and he is a huge destiny to fan.

We're talking thousands of hours played and it's I thought, What better way Thio say thank you to him that by taking his computer, telling him we were just gonna mountain a Iot to his No.

202 which is not meant for an a Iot, and then customize it and get it done quickly.

In fact, one of the keys that wanted one of the reasons that I wanted to build to be done quickly was that there was no way he believed we were doing anything super custom to it if we were given it to him back in a couple of days.

So it was one of the fastest build ever did around here.

And according to Popular Review in the in the comments that we've seen on that video, it is my most liked build.

I've done yet on this channel the custom techniques I used for painting the chipping techniques, the fact that film made a whole back story for it and made a part of the B roll look like it was taken straight from the game.

I got to really show off some of my nerd skills when it comes to my model building that I like to do in my spare time or lack thereof lately.

But was the first time I got to take two hobbies of mind and really mesh them together and have something beautiful come out of it.

As beautiful as it is and this one just say beautiful because it's completely thrashed and that was the whole point of it.

He's just sort of calling it wondering at this point, I mean, it's like, Why really changed the name?

It's obvious it's destiny to It's based on the water wing area of the ship, and he is extremely happy with the way it turned out.

And to be honest, it was probably the hardest build for me to let go of, because it was the first time I did something like that.

And but I think it went obviously toe a good home.

So we went from this completely hammered looking computer that was intentionally made to look that way and then kind of reversed it.

We went as clean as possible, not talking about my personal Rick.

I'm talking about.

The one ended before that.

My Camaro zeal, one themed build.

It was a build I done for a friend.

I donated all the parts I got.

Micro center helped with some of the parts, but I donated the rest, built it and then donate it to a friend of mine who was doing a Camaro convention show out in Las Vegas, where it was Camaro con.

And so because I was attending and I've got my Camaro 011 early and I'm a huge track enthusiast.

I wanted to support him by giving him something that he could raffle off to help recoup some of the cost for putting on that event.

So it was really kind of fun to put together that system because it didn't just count as a custom build.

It wasn't custom hardline tube drinking like that.

It was an extremely clean, aesthetically pleasing build that was built with nothing more than a screwdriver and zip ties and Cem snips, because the build also doubled as a chance for me to show people that you could have something that's extremely clean, custom themed, and you don't have to know how to cut on metal polish, you know, deeper edges, sand chip or any of that sort of stuff.

It's something anyone could do.

So it was a good opportunity for me to show you that you don't need to have any sort of special trade skills or any sort of specialized tools to get a build that is themed and also something that's aesthetically pleasing.

And you could look at and be proud to show off, put on your desk and be super super happy about.

So the next build I did, which is fairly recent, and you guys have probably seen this one is being referred to as pixel Ripper.

I'm, of course, talking about the brand new surgeon thread ripper, risin based CPU, the 39 70 x 32 core 64 thread behemoth.

So this was a big one for us, not just because of the fact that it was a super clean soft to being billed, which a lot of people were really upset about which I was kind of surprised.

A lot of people did not like the fact that I use soft to being in that, but that was important because we need to be able to access the parts and move things out of the way if we have to make changes or keep that system up and running at any cost because of the fact that that is the system that you are watching these videos being rendered on.

If that system goes down, we're down.

And that's not something that we can have around here.

But we're calling a pixel Ripper because we were actually taking a little bit of a gamble that the amount of brute force that we could throw it, rendering these videos and four K was going to out pays the hardware and coding that Intel was known forward the 9900 k.

And it's dedicated HD 264 encoder By using the eye deep you built in to the CPU.

We're still working on our long term review of Pixel Ripper, but I can tell you right now we've already said this a couple of times in our videos.

It is absolutely devastating as to how much faster it is, then quick sink that you could get on Intel and the quality is great.

But as you might know, with any system, it's not perfect So you're gonna have to wait for our long term review on where Freed Beck is on that because we're gonna wait about three months before we really kind of come back and tell you what it's like using thread Ripper as our daily video rendering machine around here.

Which leaves us to last, but not least, another build that has been dubbed, you know, Jay taking too long to build a computer.

I mean, there's lots of different jokes about their right post.

Malone's PC took a year.

Not all the fault of mine, but whatever is my name on it, so I'll take the blame for it.

My system took from about September through end of November, beginning of December.
