Thank you very much for being here. -Thanks for having me back. -Is it odd that you're here with no audience? -Um, I kind of like it. -You do? -Yeah, I don't know. I feel like social isolation, like, is my vibe. -Oh, really? -Yeah. You know, like -- -You can't do this for the whole interview, by the way, because you look like an evil villain. You're like, "I feel like social..." -Social isolation... -...is my vibe. -Yeah. -Thank you for being here. We have a lot to discuss, a lot to talk about. First is the best news ever. Baby number two is on the way. -Yeah. -Come on, now. Look at that. That's your daughter. -Yeah. That's Bowie. Is that right? -Bowie, yeah. -I remember that name. Does she know what you do for a living at all? -She kind of does, you know, but -- -It's tricky, right? -Yeah, it's tricky 'cause I play all these, like, gritty, dark, mysterious people doing, like, really bad things. -She's like, "Dad, do something that I can watch." -Yeah, like, in "ZeroZeroZero," I'm, like, cocaine trafficking around the world. -Yeah, she can't watch that. -But I really wanna do something she can see. Like, I call my agents like once a month and ask them to get me a job on "Sesame Street." You know, like, I wanna go on, and I don't want, like, a big job. I just want, like, a walk-on role where I go on and say, like, "Blue," or like -- Like, "Four," and then, like, walk off just so she can be like, "That's Daddy!" -"That's Daddy." Yeah. -But they won't return my phone calls. -What?! -Yeah. -We have -- I'm pretty tight -- I'm tight with Big Bird. -I know, man. -I can make a call. -We call you nature guy. Yeah. And I know your song. -Wild Nature Survivor Guy. -♪ Nature everywhere ♪ -Oh, my God. I gotta be -- I gotta be honest with you. I'm a little afraid sitting next to you because this is the type of stuff you do. -Yeah. -Who is this? -Yeah, so, this guy. His name is Bombardier. And, so, the series -- -His fist is the size of your head. -This guy is huge. He's a Senegalese wrestler, which is, like, its own sport, its own kind of wrestling. And the series that I'm here for, "ZeroZeroZero," we shot it on three different continents, like, five different countries, and the last country we were in was Senegal in Dakar, and we have this scene that takes place at a Senegalese wrestling match. And he was on set doing the wrestling, and he's like, you know -- He's, like, the most famous guy in Senegal, so everyone was so stoked he was there. But he is enormous. I mean, you could, like, run at him at like 50 miles per hour and hit him, and you would just fall over, and he, like, wouldn't even notice. -Do you -- You're trained in stage combat is what I heard. -I am, yeah. -What does that mean? -Well, so, I went to acting school, and we took a lot of stage combat classes. And by the time we graduated, I was certified in unarmed knife, rapier and dagger, and single-sword combat. So I can fake fight... -With any weapon. -...with a lot of weapons and my fists. -Could you -- Could you give me a punch and -- Could you -- Could you knock me out? Like, fake -- Can you show everyone? -Yeah, man. Yeah. We could do it. -What do I do? -Okay, well, stand up. -Okay. And you won't miss or anything, right? -So -- Okay, so, when you're throwing a fake punch on camera... -Uh-huh. -...the camera has, like, no depth perception. It's a 2-D image. So I could throw a punch three feet from your face, and as long as we're lined up correctly and, like, the reaction -- -I'm sorry. This jazz is distracting. Sorry. I've never been in a fight at a jazz club. -I was jiving on it. -So as long as... -Sorry. -Okay. -...I'm in front of you, I could punch three feet from your face, and as long as you react correctly, it will look like a real punch. -Oh, okay. -So if I throw a punch and then you turn your head... -This way? -...that way... Here, you stand this way. -Okay, gotcha. -And then you turn your head that way, and you got to, like, make a noise like I punched you really hard. Okay, ready? -Unh! -Yeah. -Yeah. -Exactly. -Ready? -Okay, ready? -What's up, dude? Unh! [ Punch lands ] -Ohh! Whoa. -Did it look good? -Yeah. -Hey, fantastic. [ Laughter ] I wanna show a clip. Here's Dane DeHaan in "ZeroZeroZero." Take a look at this. [ Indistinct shouting ] -So, what do you say?! -[ Speaking indistinctly ] -Look, if I don't get everything out of there tonight, the police are gonna open those cans. When they do, they're gonna find five tons of cocaine. -Dane DeHaan. "ZeroZeroZero" is streaming on Amazon Prime Video right now.
