Just a few weeks before his shocking death, Hollywood actor Philip Seymour Hoffman brought his new film A Most Wanted Man to the Sundance Film Festival. And this is one of his final interviews. Lovely to see you, and I just wanted to know. What was your biggest challenge with bringing this character to the big screen? Biggest challenge... It's the same challenge you always have. I mean, to do right by the story and to try to illuminate it in a way that hopefully is surprising, you know? What did you connect with most in your character? I connected a lot of it. I think it'd be hard for anyone not to connect with the loneliness. He's pretty lonely. He's very driven, obsessive guy. You know? He's not unforgiving of himself in a lot of ways. Lot of traits that I think a lot of people carry in one grain or another, you know. The father of three was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Sunday, following an apparent drug overdose. The 46-year-old's cause of death has yet to be confirmed, but the New York Police Department is investigating. A Most Wanted Man is still scheduled to launch in August.
