Gav: Dan, what's this bowl about? Dan: It's a Chinese spouting bowl, it's sole purpose is to make water jump out everywhere, that's it!

Gav: A very purpose-built bowl! Dan: Yeah, that's it!

Gav: We saw a GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) of this online where water is leaping out

and we thought that would look fantastic in slow motion;

talked about getting it for the show and Dan was like: I like the idea of this bowl so much

I'm gonna buy it with my own money. Dan: Yeah. I'm taking that home in my suitcase. Gav: You own this bowl?

Dan: Yeah, it's mine! Gav: This is your bowl!

Dan: Yeah! Gav: So what are you gonna do with it when we're done, you put potpourri in it or something?

Dan: I guess so, or just let people rub it, occasionally when they come in. Gav: Well hopefully this video resonates well with the audience.

Dan: Sounds good to me.

Can't bowlieve it. Gav: That was the stretch.

Dan: *laughs*

Gav (off-screen): Oh, wow!

Gav: Pretty cool! Dan: Yeah! Gav: Can you get it to resonate in different spots,

or is it always from those four corners? Dan: It always goes from these four corners but you can get it to be different patterns like

So if you do it from this side, it only does it from here; you see the little patterns it does there? Gav: Oh, it's so loud!

Oh my hands are in the shadow there.

Gav: Makes like a really fine pattern. We'll get both. Dan: That's really annoying Gav: It is stop doing it.

Takes a minute to build up, so yeah

Yeah, this channel is going to give you the oddest set of skill

Kinda weird it like

From the bowl pushes out

In a weird effect and then it starts rising up from there. Really cool

You can see the whole thing jostling. Wow that's cool. The whole bowl is going. Oh yeah, wow

That's wicked! (laughing)

Gav: I couldn't see any of that movement in real life. Dan: No!

Gav: I guess I was distracted by the water but the whole bowl is like "wuvwuvwuv"

Dan: In real life (laughing) Gav: In real time

It takes ages to get it going, but then when it's going, it just goes crazy

Whoa!

Look at the bowl wibblin. It's like a giant speaker.

Gav: Yeah Dan: I like how perfectly it's been designed

Yeah, they knew what they were doing making this thing

That's nice isn't it

That's gone flying; some of them just get launched!

Yeah, some of them are just like "Ah we'll just hit each other" some are like "See ya!"

Yeah

That's the kind of stuff you could just look at all day isn't it.

Dan: That's wicked. Gav: It's like a screen saver

Wow, yeah, you see where the movement of the water starts. I didn't actually-

All the way up on the handle. It's like your hand is moving smoothly

But the handle is gripping and letting go and gripping and letting go

Causing the bowl to move that way

Because it's such a high frequency, the only way you would be able to see it is in slow motion obviously

But um, I just thought cause it was just like a single squeaking sound you'd never be able to see it

Well I think I could watch slo-mo globules collide all day.

Dan: Luckily this is an absolute glob factory, very good. Gav: It indeed a glob factory

Yeah, it's also quite scientifically interesting with the way the globs come up with the bowl resonating

Yeah, the frequency the bowl and the way that I guess the-

The waves come from your hands at these different points cause it to come up in four different locations in a round bowl

Really strange, yeah

It's like one of those tables you get where you take the bow to it and it makes the patterns in the sand

It's just like that

Dan: Do you remember the tuning fork video we did where we showed the globs coming up from either side of that? Gav: Yeah

Dan: This is like that on steroids. It's just really- Gav: So you're happy with your purchase?

I think you're jealous. You want one

I would want one, yeah. I probably want it to be automatically though

Dan: Yeah, of course yeah. Gav: Sort of like voice-activated like, "Alexa make the Chinese ball make the globs"

Gav: Then it's "bvvbvvbvv" Dan: Mug
