And I'm here at a Taiyaki place

And this store here in Kichijoji has way more flavors

than they usually do for Taiyaki

First I'll show you what it is!

It's basically a pancake with filling inside,

and it's shaped like a fish!

Which is why it's called Taiyaki

Tai is a type of fish

I'm not really sure how to say it in English actually

"Red Snapper"

They're making all the different flavors here

This shop is called Kurikoan

They have a few stores throughout Tokyo

So it's not only in Kichijoji

These are all the flavors that they have today

Looks like regular anko (red bean paste)

Matcha cream, Caramel cream, peanuts

That's an interesting one

Ooo imo! That would be this one here - sweet potato

They smell amazing!

These are huge! This is some of the biggest Taiyaki I've ever seen in my life.

They're really thick.

And there's so much filling in it that it's coming out the sides!

They don't usually look this amazing!

Matcha flavor is really strong

So, it's slightly bitter but still sweet..if that makes sense

And if you check out some of the other stores...

I think some of the bigger ones have flavors like cheesecake

And pumpkin, there were ones that had pumpkin!

I was really hoping they'd have it here

I guess it's kind of out of season

Because this is a chain store, if you go to some of the bigger ones

I bet they'll have even more flavors

But usually taiyaki only comes in the red bean flavor

and sometimes custard

So it's cool to have these flavors like matcha

It's really close to Kichijoji station, like cross the road and you're here

Ok so we were here eating our taiyaki

and this little old lady came up to us and said

that she knows a shop where the anko (red bean paste) tastes better

So she went there and bought us some snacks!

from that shop, and she brought them to us

and said to try them

That was like the sweetest thing ever
