  • everybody.

  • Welcome back to flags.

  • Last fan Friday.

  • Hope you left Thesing, Kitts and Nevis episode anyway, as you know, this department I talk about this small mistakes we made in the episode or the things that didn't quite make it into the episode Wanna accidentally played the intro twice, totally went over my head.

  • I just I didn't even know I did that.

  • Well, my mistake bass terror was not exactly quite spelled correctly in the political animation.

  • Also, the word acceptable was not spelled correctly.

  • I forgot to mention that sink.

  • It's a new This is a commonwealth nation, and Dominica is actually the beginning of the Windward Islands, not the Leeward Islands.

  • One thing I forgot to mention his Wingfield estate they actually have the oldest rum distillery in the entire Caribbean.

  • Dates back to 16 81.

  • And speaking of drinks, I didn't really elaborate too much on the killer bee drink actually had the pleasure of meeting gusts from Gus on the go.

  • He's a cool Danish fairways guy that's trying to go to every country in the world Anyway, we drive the killer bee at Nevis.

  • It is the one thing you have to try If you go to Nevis, Island is created by Rasta Man well in sunshine Canes.

  • He refuses to give the exact recipe for the drink, but it's basically wrong with passion, fruit juice and maybe some extra stuff.

  • During the 18th and early 19th century, the sugar industry of ST Kitts and Nevis almost actually surpassed that of the United States, even though they're only about 36 square miles in area.

  • And it's funny because you'll kind of see that pattern a lot in like former colonial areas.

  • I mean, France pretty much traded all of Quebec so that they could keep Guadalupe and Martinique traded over half a 1,000,000 square miles for less than 1000 then came back is like Oh, really?

  • Okay, thanks, France, anyway, time to move on to the flag.

  • So without further add, do you?

  • It was so fun filming this episode and especially meeting you guys.

  • That petition and the vision geography pes.

  • I really hope you like your country's episode is really fun having mini art in the episode.

  • It's great to have Jason back.

  • He's the guy that helped me launch this entire channel anyway, to the flag, the flag of ST Kitts and Nevis contains two triangles of green and red, divided by a diagonal yellow edged black band containing two stars in it, the black band in the middle stands for the black people with African origins of the country, The yellow stripe represents the sunshine of the island that they enjoy almost year.

  • Round two stars represent hope and liberty, and many will also say the islands themselves, of course, ST Kitts and Nevis, the green triangle in the upper left hoist side of the flag symbolizes the country's fertile land, forest and agriculture and the red stands for we haven't had one of those animations in a long time, Thank you to our favorite Irishman pots for making that animation.

  • Now keep in mind.

  • Prior to this, the country was a British colony for the longest time they were under the British Leeward Islands.

  • Then for four short years.

  • There are part of the West Indies Federation.

  • Then, finally, just before independence, they were actually just a territory with Anguilla, ST Christopher Nevis and Anguilla, two different flags and was kind of awkward because they knew their independence was coming soon.

  • But Anguilla was like guys, I'm going to stick with the UK Is it cool if I dip out on this one?

  • And ST Kitts and Nevis was like, Ah, what fine.

  • Otherwise this country could have had another island with it.

  • Also keep in mind there was a brief secessionist movement with Nevis Island at a referendum in 1998 but it didn't pass.

  • They needed, like a 2/3 majority rule, but they got really close.

  • It was like 62%.

  • Yeah, that's about it anyway.

  • Now the coat of arms, coat of arms of ST Kitts and Nevis contains a shield in the center with symbols.

  • At the bottom is a sailboat, referring to the seafaring culture of the country.

  • Above it is a red chevron with two points, Yana flowers, the national flower of the country.

  • Above it are three images depicting the major sources of historical influence for the country of flu daily, representing the French, the head of a Carib native and a rose representing the British.

  • Above it lies a helmet topped with battlements of a tower and to torch is being held by a black and white hand, symbolizing the struggle and quest for freedom with a diverse people in unified purpose.

  • On the sides, the shield has held up on one side by sugar king stocks and the other a coconut palm tree, the two most cultivated products of the island and two pelicans.

  • The national bird at the very bottom lies the phrase country above self.

  • And prior to that is all the other coat of arms they use were on their British territory flags.

  • But yes, since independence, this has pretty much been the only coat of arms they've ever used.

  • All right, so that's just about it.

  • So now you know what time it is.

  • It's time for geography.
